Mighty Ducks > Ducks (almost as lame as the New Orleans Pelicans)

And that Mighty Ducks logo was original and fun, even more so when you compare it to the ugly, boring D logo the team uses now.

With regard to the teams with knights in their name, London Knights have the better logo:

Columbus young guns are just sic.  That team is so awesome to watch,  I'm rooting for them in East.  Fast pace,  exciting team.  They have perfect breakouts

Werenski is top end talent. Despite winning both matchups, I'm glad we don't have Columbus on the schedule for the rest of the season.

...the Vegas Golden Knights name has caught the attention of the United States military because a parachute team goes by the same name."

Alison Bettencourt, a spokeswoman for the Army Marketing and Research Group in Arlington, Virginia was quoted in the story as saying, "We're reviewing the situation and figuring out what the way ahead would be."

The Golden Knights are based in Fort Bragg and have used this name since the 1960s.

"We understand that one of the Las Vegas team owners (Bill Foley) has Army connections, and will likely understand our interest in this announcement is meant to protect the proud history of the Army's Golden Knights and their vital role in telling the Army story and connecting America with their Army," said Bettencourt, who noted the group learned of the Golden Knights through media accounts last Wednesday.

What could this mean? Well they could dispute the trademark arguing that the similar name, color scheme and that both logos use a knights helmet might cause some to believe the two are associated. If you believe a reasonable person could mistake one Golden Knights with another then that?d be enough grounds for a decent legal challenge.

If the team were forced to change their name, it?d likely be as simple as just changing the "Golden" for "Desert" or "Silver" as their logo would just as well for either.

Interesting development.

Interesting development.

Becasue there is a lot for the Vegas Golden Knights to gain from the implied association with a parachute team.  That's like me opening McDonalds Nail Salon to take advantage of the golden arches...

I can't see any court in the land deciding in the parachute teams favour.  There just isn't any logical connection.

But I can see the Vegas franchise offering some cross promotion opportunities, and some additional support of the military, which would be mutually beneficial.

Keep in mind it's Murica. People down there take legal action on all sorts of things as though it were a bodily function. And also remember the status of the military there, too. Your comparison is a silly one with no parallel whatsoever.

There is no connection between Pro Hockey and a military drill team.   Like there is no connection between a restaurant and a nail salon.

Yes, people take legal action over nothing.  But we're talking military vs. private sector.  A little different situation.  And I can see a little cross promotion (having the Golden Knights parachute team drop in on a Vegas home game) being all that it will take to make this go away...

You think cross promotion is the answer when the whole issue is that the military does not want people making the leap that the two entities are associated?

... okay then.

I guess you didn't bother to read the article.

Quote
Foley had previously said that he was initially partial to Black Knights based on his military heritage as a West Point graduate, but got "pushback" from the Army and immediately moved on. Also, Foley noted that Black Knights wasn't exactly the first choice of the team?s prospective fans. Foley had registered Desert Knights and Silver Knights along with Golden Knights as possible team names.

Maybe read this after reading the previous article I posted: http://www.fayobserver.com/military/army-officials-to-review-hockey-team-s-use-of-golden/article_7aa74a76-40cb-5c02-9a8e-886468bd743f.html

Military vs. private sector has absolutely nothing to do with it, either.

Taylor Hall drops a heck of a hit to Larson. Check was clean, however the behaviour and absolute mindlessness reaction of both teams disgusts me. Watching Larson get kicked in the head, skate blades millimetres from his exposed neck/face was sickening to watch. Thankfully a teammate finally woke up and tried to shield Larkin's body from the scrum.

Very Scott Stevens like... and Larsen had his "head down".  I wonder if Don Cherry will have this front and centre this week, or if they will ask him not to...

Listening to 1290 this morning, and the whole fighting vs. jobs debate was silly. There are the same number of jobs with or without fighting.  Its just that we end up with a developing skill player getting a roster spot rather than a guy who is borderline NHL calibre but can drop the gloves (Thorburn, Peluso).

Sure, players feel more secure when you have a nuclear option waiting to go off, but take away all nuclear weapons and make an even playing field, and everyone is safer.
