Looks like a PP goal does it for OV. Glad it wasn't a cheap empty net goal.

Caught parts of yesterday and today's Caps games and was really lucky, cuz I use my remote to much for other stuff, on his last 3 goals. Today was truly a splendid moment as a fan of hockey

Congrats to Ovi8

Yes, congrats to Alex Ovechkin for becoming the #1 goal scoring leader in NHL history. A remarkable feat from a remarkable player. I don't see anyone catching him in my lifetime. Special!
Go Bombers!

Ovi said and coach confirmed that Ovi said he didn't want to be out there during any empty net as he wanted it to be a shot on goalie.

Ovechin did the impossible... he got people to watch an Islanders game...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Pretty amazing feat for Ovechkin, who's cemented his legacy as the greatest goal scorer ever.

With a hall of fame worthy .6 career goals per game average, Winnipeg Jet Nikita Chibrikov is set to take a run at Ovie's record.
Assuming the currently injured Jets forward can average 80 games played per season, and keep up that goal scoring pace beginning next year, the 22 year old should eclipse Ovechkin's record some time during the 2043/44 season.
We also must assume there are no lockouts, and Ovechkin doesn't score another NHL goal. But they were both born in Moscow!

Auston Matthews (27). 623 games, 398 goals. OV (39) 625 games, 391 goals. If Matthews can stay healthy he might have a chance.

Canadiens sign F Demidov to 3-year ELC: https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/three-year-entry-level-contract-for-ivan-demidov

QuoteBROSSARD – Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract (2024-25 to 2026-27) with forward Ivan Demidov.

Demidov appeared in 65 games with St. Petersburg SKA in the KHL this season, registering 19 goals and 30 assists, in addition to serving 22 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 192 lb forward added five points (3G, 2A) in six playoffs contests. Demidov's 49 points set a new KHL record for the most points in a season by a U20 player (the previous record was 42 points, set by Kirill Kaprizov in 2016-17).

As the youngest player to play the full season with St. Petersburg, the Sergiyev Posad, RUS native led SKA in assists and points. Demidov was also named the KHL's Rookie of the Month three times this season, earning the honor in September, December and January.

Demidov was selected by the Canadiens in the first round (5th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Sounds like he'll join the Habs soon, too.

Canucks make NHL history, scoring three goals in under a minute to force OT and beat the Stars.

Canucks are out of the playoffs.  Can't say I'm sorry about that.
