2024-2025 CFL (non-Bomber) off-season discussion

Saw a rumour yesterday that Argonauts QB Cameron Dukes was injured in their pre-season game. Reports today that Dukes is in street clothes and the signing of Jarret Doege suggest that there might be something to this.

Doege, LOL.  Desperation time.  We should have kept Patterson just so we could have gotten a 2RDP to trade him to TOR.

On the bright side, the whole world will get to see if Arbuckle just got lucky in the GC or if he is the next legit CFL starter.  If he is, he may be the biggest sleeper in the history of the CFL.

You're probably thinking about the wrong Doege, this isn't the one that played for Sask., Jarret was on the Elks PR for a couple of years and looked pretty good in last year pre-season games.

That may be true. However the team would have the option of putting him on the 1 game IR for a minor injury as they did with Logan.

Regardless, there are about 10 import receivers fighting for 2 spots on the AR. Another 2 perhaps on the PR.

Final cuts are this weekend so we'll see how this works out. Sometimes a guy could get released and get another chance to be re-signed when healthy. All of that depends on where everybody else ranked in the final assessment.

Who knows, was surprised they brought Case back this year, but he is one of the few receivers that can also returns kicks so I wouldn't be surprised if they kept him around on the PR.  Really hoping Cobb can dress for the next game and get a look at receiver and returner, I think he'll impress with the energy he brings. Potentially a JFG level player.

Man TO is in tough with its Qb situation, first they lose Kelly , now Dukes. I shutter to think what would happen if Collaros goes down and Strev is hurt, we'd be in full desparation mode too!!  At least Toronto has last years GC MVP to bring in!! And we'll see if it was a fluke or not

A photo from today's Argos practice shows all 5 QBs in uniform - no helmet for Chad Kelly. Whatever it was with Dukes seems to have been minor.

I'm pulling for him too but I don't think he was underutilized. He was behind Harris and then Oliveria and he should have been.

He was good here when he got to play but you don't play much football if you're not on the top of the chart in pro football.

When you have guys who are perpetual MOP's and MOC's, hard to get on the field.

If anything, we overutilized him, or at least got more than we paid for.  We got a lot of mileage on teams, and he was ready to go in if needed.  With no one ahead of him, and on a team needing ratio, he will have a chance to shine.

Watching the TOR@HAM game today.  Rutledge spotted playing on field.  Yup, same Rutledge!  Apparently has been in USFL all this time.

He was always quite good here (passport not as friendly as Kramdi though).  I wonder if he cracks the roster in TOR.  I also wonder who the incumbent is, and any competition.

He should do well there.  Let's hope he's not making big plays against us in the GC this year.  Or at the very least, that Kramdi can do better!

Haha, PS1 HAM game (3Q7:36) they stole our WPG work-back-to-post (dig route?) 2PAT (mini-TD) play to Kenny!  That's the play we used to great success many times last year, and for a TD or 2 in the '24 post-season to Kenny.

Hilarious, first JA27 takes it in for the short run TD, and then topped with a 2 pointer to Kenny with a Buck special.  Am I watching the Bombers?  This will be a confusing year when HAM is playing.
