2024-2025 CFL (non-Bomber) off-season discussion

The wording has been changed in recent weeks and it can now be read that "the use of instruments producing too many decibels and whose volume disturbs the spectators is prohibited. Compressed air trumpets, megaphones and other mechanical noise instruments are prohibited".

I think the French will still try to get away with it.  "Compressed air" has always been banned, and that's not what the MTL horns are.  Jeez, we go over this every season.  They are not the Staples bottles of compressed air attached to a horn: they are a hand pump making compressed air attached to a horn.

They need to specify air horns whether using pre-compressed air or hand-pumped air!!

As for "other mechanical": wouldn't that exclude cowbells?  Everyone except MTLers agree to take away their air horns, but jeez many fans don't want to lose their cowbells!  I say let the French have their cowbells, and they can be just like the rest of the league.  Cowbells don't impede announcers.

FYI, the PS games don't seem to be unviewable after 2 days.  I'm still finishing up the @BC game right now.  The key is get the final watch-page URL saved somewhere because the links to it disappear from the PS page/list after about 30 hours.

This should be very useful for the 3 PS games we have on Sat, incl the one many of us will be at and may want to rewatch later.  Might be hard to get 3 whole games watched in one night...

The trumpets *are* compressed air, they just don't work off bottles compressed air, but the pumps that power them actually compress air as part of their action.  That's why they are so loud.  So they are banned.  Vuvuselas use lung power only, no mechanical assistance compressing air.

By by horns.  Poor guys that spent money on those...

Yup.  Get & keep those links within 24 hrs of gameday and you can watch them (much) later.

I just checked and the week 1 BC game is still playable.  Might have to reload the page if the stream breaks, then skip ahead to where you were.  Or I guess watch an unofficial youtube post... though one would think CFL would put takedown orders on those eventually.

More effort than it is worth. Replay value of old games has to be near zero after a couple of days.

Maybe he had to go home for personal reasons, but a receiver competing for his job would be a weird choice to make for a paper transaction over a vet that's already secured a job.

Saw a rumour yesterday that Argonauts QB Cameron Dukes was injured in their pre-season game. Reports today that Dukes is in street clothes and the signing of Jarret Doege suggest that there might be something to this.

O'Shea didn't elaborate on why D. Mitchell wasn't here today. I suppose he could have gotten nicked but he seems to have dropped down the depth chart unless the coaches know something we don't.  IE: He shouldn't just get handed a starting position.

That may be true. However the team would have the option of putting him on the 1 game IR for a minor injury as they did with Logan.

Regardless, there are about 10 import receivers fighting for 2 spots on the AR. Another 2 perhaps on the PR.

Final cuts are this weekend so we'll see how this works out. Sometimes a guy could get released and get another chance to be re-signed when healthy. All of that depends on where everybody else ranked in the final assessment.
