Quote from: TBURGESS on September 07, 2025, 03:50:45 PMI agree with Milt. It looks like Collaros is out cold before he even hit the ground. That's the cumulative effect of concussions IMO. It's not up to Collaros. It's up to the medical staff.
The fact that he was clearly out cold and motionless from that hit, which I didn't think was that bad, shows me he's well down the line on cumulative impacts from concussions. That hit shouldn't have knocked him out cold like that.Zach, it's time to call it a day man. You've had a great career and a fantastic run here, which we are all very grateful for, we ll never have another run like that, but it's time man.

I didn't get the impression he was knocked out but if that is true then even more room for worry.
One game at a time.

Quote from: Waffler on September 07, 2025, 03:45:00 PMWhy was there any? He had time to position the hit. It was forceful enough that any QB would be out even if the helmet had remained untouched.

Agree we blew the protection. We have to make the  oline more a priority for next year.
You can't Block everyone that is not a protection issue its a QB not recognizing it.

TrueBlue4

I too didn't think he was knocked out after the hit.

He just laid on the ground when he was hit there and when Brady bent down to see if he was ok he didn't move a muscle

Interesting to see everyone's take on it
I think he was out and still

Zach took a hit earlier in the game that he was slow to get up from and may have rung his bell.  One side-effect/temporary symptom of concussions is sometimes being plagued by foggy brain syndrome, an inability to focus and mental blockage that feels like you couldn't think your way out of a paper bag.

Zach has always been one hit away from retirement from the time he arrived here.

It is up to the medical team to decide if he can play again, and then it is up to he and his family whether he Should play again.  The team has no say in the issue if he is given medical clearance and chooses to play, he has a valid extended contract in place that we cannot prevent him from earning.

The Bombers can recommend his course of action regarding his career, but that stops short of preventing him to play if he is medically cleared.

The question of the Bombers post Zach is completely different.

We are NOT picking up any starting QB presently on a roster, sorry.

Montreal has MBT, Dukes, Evans and Paterson on the roster, some of whom that will need to be released.  I'd take any to put alongside Wilson for competition.

Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Like every time a Regina player has taken out our QB since Marino in 2022. Have they missed a year since? Just a coincidence it's always Labor day or banjo bowl. ;) Is it worth having a rivalry if that's how they play it?

2024: Bombers' president Wade Miller blasts CFL officials, Randy Ambrosie following Labour Day Classic headshot on QB Zach Collaros

And nothing has changed in my view.

Yep, Pete Robertson headbutted Zach knocking him out for the game, Marino pushed him after the whistle and was cut a few days later for once again disobeying orders.  Last season Miles Brown took Zach out for a game and Strev. out for the entire season with double dirty hits, ended up in CGY were the coaching staff has always condoned after the whistle chicanery. At least Dickie 2 was an innocent doofus, Mace is schooled in dirty football.

Suitor and Ford should retire.  TSN panel needs an upgrade. .  They've been doing it too long.they sound repetitive. Ford will always just agree. Suitor always says that shouldn't be a penalty.  Game in and game out. That was just hand pushing not a penalty both going for the ball.  Doesn't know the rule book . tsn panel giving advice.  Should do their job.  And realize there was a penalty called on the play. ..bet they left that out.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on September 07, 2025, 04:13:31 PMWe have one card left to play and that's Terry Wilson.

We have to hope he's the winning lottery ticket numbers because that's the only thing that can save us this year.

We're out of options. Let's see if two years of development has developed anything.

Strev is proven toast! But they'll likely continue to start him because the coaches are proven to be poor decision makers.
Season ticket holder since year 1 of the Reinbold era.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on September 07, 2025, 02:07:40 PMHe's done. Someone needs to have the conversation with him. Been saying this all season. It's not just the injury concern, it's the pricetag for the production. It's not there anymore. He had a great game on Labour Day but there are far more valleys and middling performances than there are peaks.

He's our best chance this year but let's roll the dice with Wilson next week and start looking at what we can do for 2026.

To this, I'd add "let's find a way to get Elgersma up here and groom him for the rest of the season."

Quote from: Jesse on September 07, 2025, 03:36:30 PMThat's not on the defensive player though, that's on protection.

The only thing Reavis did wrong was some helmet to helmet contact and, while a penalty, wasn't exactly the most egregious hit we've ever seen.

Agreed a penalty but with the history of the past 3 years it makes it worse I think there should

Yes agreed I would love to see Wilson but it probably won't happen, and just based on Wilson's resume I don't expect him to be much better ( if any ) than Strevler. I would see if Ford is available from Edmonton he can run and the combination of Ford and Olivera and Jackson coached him last year. I am not sure if Edm would trade him but the Bombers should be asking around for QBs at this point.

I like that idea, but truly, what have we got to lost but to try Wilson at this point? We know Strev cannot do it, after his injury he is toast, but he was never a great thrower.

Wilson throws a beautiful ball, but probably never has gotten the reps in practice he needs.

My brain wants Zach as the OC if he cannot be our #1. Buck did ok after his career.  I just cannot fathom anymore of Hogan.
