It must be approaching soon?  I don't expect the Bombers to be making any significant moves. Maybe some neg list or draft picks of small consequence.

The question is whether any of the teams out of the play off race or close to out make any moves? Players that are potential free agents or not part of 2024 plans at this point for example.

Edmonton, Ottawa and Calgary could be shedding some players to save some SMS if there are any takers.

I would look at
Ottawa
Kevin Francis  national, very good on special teams
Cleyon Laing dt
Edmonton
Purifoy  very versatile, Sam,safety db, returner

Jesse

I'd take one of Hammy's DL

Ya, DL, DT, SAM, returner.  Nothing on O.

When the out-of-playoff teams are official, post them here and we can study who's available.  Lots of teams scrapping for those final 2 spots.  It appears only TOR is going to have a "garbage time season" this year.

Again, I was mostly wondering about what other teams might do and not the Bombers so much. The thought being that some lower teams might look to shed SMS to be in a better position when free agency hits. Getting rid of players for that reason and not being in the plans for 2024.

OTOH as far as the Bombers: If we've spoken to Tyrell Ford and he doesn't want to be in Winnipeg, then perhaps trading / exchanging him with Edmonton for a higher conditional draft pick might be a route to take. We could allow the Elks to speak with him.

Now I have no idea what T. Ford is thinking but the NFL is now going into week 5. You'd think he'd be inclined to return to the CFL but he hasn't. Just thinking he might want to play with his brother and the Elks will certainly want to improve their Canadian depth.

Who would you trade for him?

Ceresna?  He has a year left at $215k...

Sims?  Has he learned the rules and strategies?

Lewis/Arcnieaux?  Going for a cup?  We don't *need* them, but...

Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Elliot Brown, the Elks rookie Import DE that looks like a Willie clone, he only played in a few games before being injured, but I thought he showed great potential and might be worth acquiring if Deng doesn't work out.

I was thinking of a high draft pick in 2024. No interest in trading a potentially good Canadian for an import let alone one not proven. Even then I'd only trade him if he has a reason why he won't return to Winnipeg. Trading him to the Elks made a small amount of sense because his brother is their etc etc.

However we'd have to get a very good draft pick in return. Elks probably finish last or 2nd last which would mean the # 2 or # 11 picks in their pocket.

We don't need Lewis and Arceneaux is on his last legs. Argos might be interested in Lewis due to injury situation.

Ford is under contract for 2024 if he comes back to the CFL. No need to deal him now.

Unless elks want to overpay for him to get both fords on the roster which would be a big pr boost for them.
Maybe a #1 pick and a player

Yikes, don't give enemy teams any good ideas!  Lewis to TOR to play just the playoffs and then be released in FA would be the smartest thing TOR could do.  They have a (so far) good QB but no one of note to throw to.  Imagine if TOR had a CFL top-3 WR?  Now that would change the math when we face them in the GC.  Now that would really scare me.  It could be like 2013 Riders signing Geroy: unstoppable and not even required to win.

Ok, a first and a player would be tempting.

Man, every time there are siblings, fans make up this narrative of them wanting to play together.

Ford is waiting for an NFL shot. It's a once in a million opportunity and he's giving it a shot. He'll be back next year.

CFL history is full of siblings playing together, it's not something made up. My only point is that he hasn't returned and there might be a win win situation. Every player wants an NFL shot but some have a more realistic chance of succeeding. He hasn't even made an NFL PR spot yet so it's reasonable to wonder what he's thinking.

This is the perfect time to return.  Uses up the last year of his contract, may only earn a few game cheques, but gets playoff money.

He'd be crazy not to come back soon if he doesn't get a PR spot.
