Almost certainly he waits to get picked up, or failing that, for an injury replacement call during the season.  There is absolutely no incentive for him to play a partial CFL season at this point.

If he doesn't get the call, then there are pretty good odds he would enter CFL free agency for 2023.  He would get a look from Ottawa, Hamilton, Regina, possibly Montreal, probably BC if Rourke goes south.  There will definitely be some quarterbacks moving this of season, but I don't think Streveler has to think about that until February.

I honestly don't think he'll get a serious look as a starter in the CFL. If he believes he will then he waits. If he doesn't believe that is true, it changes the dynamic of whether to wait in 2022 or try again in 2023.

Something could happen very quickly over the next week. He may be getting calls from other teams but there will be a bunch of other QB's doing the same thing.

If he wants to continue playing football the CFL is  the logical way to look to me.

That's probably a stretch but he could be a very useful acquisition to several teams. The issue now is SMS hit.

He would start on Ottawa, Hamilton, Edmonton, bc (now), Montreal

Maybe Sask

Toronto would roll with MBT, cal with Maier and obviously Winnipeg with Zach

I think 50/50 at best he gets that call. Is very much unproven as a player in the NFL regular season. My gutt tells me he will not see the field in the regular season in the NFL again.

His passing ability has improved... teams that have lost a starting QB that was getting top SMS$ will have cap space to go after him for the stretch run... and he can sign a 1 yr prorated deal...

I never saw Streveler as a potential quality starter in the CFL, I didn't think he was accurate enough.

But two things have changed.  First, he's had a preseason for the ages.  Secondly, most of the really promising next generation of CFL QBs have hit a wall.  VAJ, Evans and Arbuckle have all struggled, and Fajardo is walking the razors edge.

Harris can't play forever, and the smart money says Rourke is in an NFL camp next year.  Honestly only Collaros, MBT and Maijer are the only ones who should have any sense of security.

So while I am still unsure Streveler can be a top notch starter, I think he would get a long look this winter.

Yes, given the CFL QB situation (exactly as you said), Strevie is on the bubble as potential starter.  Clearly his passing has improved.  And he's still a dangerous runner.

I think the main problem with Strev in the CFL is the team would have to convince him to not run so much.  He won't be healthy enough to start a whole season doing what he did here in '19.

I never thought he'd make it in the NFL (how could he when not good enough for the CFL?) and would be happy to see him return to the CFL where he'll be appreciated more.

CFL players do have a pension plan!

It's called "Come Talk To Me" Adam Bighill investments!  Making sacks and earning stacks!  Just look for the old Buzz & Boomer locker room.  :D

Who in that list is better than strevler?  I would like to see corny with a better team but he can't win...you are going to keep Dane evans ?  Caleb?  Schiltz?  Those guys stink.

You're right.  I'd start Strevie over all those guys.  But I would start MBT and Maier over Strev, and maybe VAJ too.

Heck, come to think of it I'd start Strev over BLM and Cody!  They're giving Corny and Caleb so much time to develop and play live reps on the assumption reps make you better, so who's to say with another 1-3 years under his belt starting that Strev can't be the next Rourke?  (Corny seems to be on his way to legit starter.)

Jets informed QB Chris Streveler, who helped lead the team to an unbeaten preseason and also led the team in rushing yards this summer, that they plan to release him Tuesday, per source.

Just because several teams don't have good QB's doesn't mean that Streveler is either a short or long term solution. Ottawa has Masoli returning eventually and Arbuckle at the moment. Montreal has Harris and Adams on 6 game IR.

I could see Calgary trading BLM in 2023 and running with Maier.

There is a reason that the NY Jets are also rans every year. Its moves like this. Streveler was arguably the Jets best QB in preseason and that hard work gets you released.
