I don't think we have a big enough sample size to adequately judge his accuracy, although preseason was promising. In the end I think like almost all QBs, he will fail or succeed based on what he has above his collar bones, and the jury is still out on that.

Looking back at our QB prospects that we've brought in, it's hard to find any that I've been excited about for the future, but Joey Elliott is a great pull!
Didn't last too long though...

It often comes down to unfortunate timing, Joey Elliot may have had a great career if he landed with the right team at the right time, he certainly had the physical talent to do so. Unfortunately the Bomber team he played for at the time was quite bad and even a great QB can't turn a bad team around on his own.  As an example, the version of Zach Collaros that played in Sask. looked nothing like the QB he entered the league as or the QB he is now.

Let me elaborate on my comparison.  Piggy is like Reilly, BLM, Rourke in the sense that the very first time they set foot on the field in a live game they wowed and impressed.  I remember BLM's first 1.5 games on the field lighting it all up, and of course we all remember Rourke's first game starting.

You don't have to light it up your first game in order to eventually be great, but many of the players who do light it up the first time go on to be great.  Yes, Elliot makes a good counterpoint.  But we're talking odds here, and Piggy's odds of turning out legit are higher based on what we've seen (say 20% vs 10%).

This is only true if he does it in a real game.

Ya, but PS is as close as you get shy of a real in-season game.  PS is a better representation of things than TC or practice, though.  Besides, I'm not really talking about his results as much as his mechanics and raw talent.  It would take a real game to see if his "above the shoulders" part is as good; though again, his PS reads were mostly great.

Unfortunately, we're not going to see if he can come in and light up an in-season game because Brown is the man for that at the moment.  I think the best we'll get this season is a starter-tryout game at season's end when we've locked the West.  That should be great fun to watch!

Could be a bust... could be the next Burris.

He does have a good zing on the ball and his legs buy him time in a game. I am certain he does not always know where to go with the ball yet but he's not thrown anything too risky either. That's half the battle. If he was a drop back guy, there is no way he could play yet.  The CFL takes some learning, let him get there without unrealistic expectations.

I ve always thought Collaros was a top tiered Qb, it?s just he kept getting concussion problems and teams didn?t want to risk it with him. So glad we did

I love watching Piggy play.
Unfortunately, he only payed against training camp fodder.

He looks bigger and stocky, but again competing against 300 pd. guys, he lost yards on the sneak.  So, what's he good for?
Saying Procup is useless is goofy.  He was part of a well-oiled machine.  What did he have 18 QB sneaks for TDs.

I would welcome him back.

Piggie???? not effective  during a real game vs. starters.

I think that was his "welcome to the CFL" moment.
He tore up the preseason squads and ran into the season thinking it was going to be easy!
It might be a good thing for him to have that wake up call in a game where we were going to win anyway.
Guarantee that he will be taking that QB sneak job more serious and I don't think he will come up short on another one this year!

You watched Pigrome play in pre-season and you have to ask, "what is he good for?" ???

I think the point is that this year his main (?only) role is going to short yardage, and he needs to make the short yardage plays successfully or he's of no real use to us.

DM83

Exactly.  so what is he good for?  If he can't get  a yard?  And evidently some teams wont even play the support players with a minute left. So who is he going to play?

Blue In BC

Jeffcoat is out but was he moved to 1 game or 6 game IR? When was the last time he finished a complete game? Patience is wearing very thin.

I saw someone say 6-game but it wasn't an official team statement.

The time to move on has come if that's the case. Sad but football reality.

Before the season began Walter said the 3rd QB would be given a role like Streveler with special packages mixed in to diversify the attack, hopefully we see some of that implemented within the next few games.  Can't wait!
