If Edm was getting something of value in return there is no way they would have dressed Lawler in that game. I believe none of it.

Maybe they had to dress him for that game to show/say "see he's perfectly healthy".

P.S. I agree that if this is true it means Ellingson and/or Woli are not coming back in time for playoffs.

Keeping with the "what ifs"... if we were going to trade for Lawler, what were we going to offer?  2nd round DP?  1st?  EDM could basically name their price, IMHO, but with an eye towards next year they probably would go as "cheap" as 3rd or 2nd round.

And a trade would have been great from Lawler's perspective: he gets to showcase his talent before FA, net another GC and increase his value even more.  Everyone wins.

If ellingson and Woli aren?t coming back for the playoff run, I don?t see this as the end of the world. Bailey has stepped up big time and BOO has came into his own as well.

The Lawler trade chatter the media created is drama really, we ll be fine without this supposed  trade.

I agree that it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'd be a whole lot more comfortable with Ellingson and Wolitarsky back in the lineup. More weapons for Collaros, and forces the opposing D to keep more honest. Woli has just been so clutch on 2nd down, and Ellingson and Collaros seem to share a brain at times.

How would the ratio work with Lawler in had it happen?

Easy. He will replace McCrae on the line-up.

Sheed, Lawler, Demski, Schoen, BOLO

Still not convinced the Bombers offered anything serious enough to get Edm to move.

Then you make the trade conditional on games played. UNLESS we were giving up a player.

If the Bombers had any confidence in his health (to preclude him playing in the game he was injured in) they would have made an offer that Jones could not refuse, no doubt.  And the trade would have been done.

As it is, Jones gets the same result of SMS$ relief by Lawler heading to the 6 game... same as a trade.

If this is signalling that Ellingson is done for the year, that is unfortunate, but we still have plenty of targets.

I don't believe for a second Walters tried to reacquire Lawler, he's priced out of their budget range and will continue to be so next F.A..  Bombers have shown they don't need a $200k+ receiver to create a successful passing attack, Lawler money is better spent elsewhere, plus they will need extra nickel to re-up Demski as a premier Natl. slot-back.

You understand the pick up of Lawler was for the playoffs, right?

"Lawler?s one-year deal is reportedly worth $300,000, which would make him the CFL?s highest-paid non-quarterback."

Trading for Lawler just before we play the Elks would have been interesting... would be zero advantage for a "playbook" side of things... I don't think Edm knows what plays are in their playbook...

I don't care, to me he wouldn't be worth it, he'd be gone again next year anyway and in the meantime he steals some other players opportunity to play.  Bringing in short-term mercenaries is a violation of the team concept IMO.

Sergio says hi by waving at you with a hand with a giant Grey Cup ring on it...sometimes you need better players to get you that win.

Lawler is the best receiver in the CFL

Zach Collaros too.

He re-signed, but for 2019, that was a mercenary pick-up to replace Streveler.
