Quote from: bunker on September 12, 2025, 07:31:53 PMI would have characterized Walters free agency as a giant fail. Who has worked out? Maybe Vaughters, who has a grand total of 3 sacks in 12 games but that's debatable. He's making about 100,000 over the minimum. Mitchell is a bust, as is Logan, and both are making way over the minimum (Mitchel 85,000, Logan about 50,000 over I think). J Jones is by all accounts a good player, but we really have little need for yet another Import LB, and he's making 50,000 over the minimum, and has almost never made it onto the roster. Together, they make about 285,000 over the minimum. Package them all together in a trade for Lawler? I'd do that in a heartbeat, but Ticats would have no interest. 20/20 hindsight? Yes. But Walters gets paid well to make the correct decisions, and he didn't.

I give KW the benefit of the doubt due to so much success, but this year has been weird with our FAs and it's impossible to make the argument we've been successful here. Maybe Mitchell goes on a tear for 200 yards tonight and becomes Strev's fav target the rest of the year, but we've been given no reason to think that will happen after two thirds of the season.

Depends how you categorize them, if they're still on the roster, I would consider them as TBD.

Success
Vaughters
Stearns

Failed through no fault of their own, just got cut.
Reggie White
Josh Haggerty
Shea Patterson
Brock Gowanlock

TBD as in there's still a chance they'll meet expectations.
Gavin Cobb
Dillon Mitchell
Peyton Logan
Jon Jones
Enock Makonzo

thanks dd you're correct.
Season ticket holder since year 1 of the Reinbold era.

Kenny is just the worst.

This team has never done anything but support his through his personal garbage and now he's playing the blame game for some reason?

Glad he walked. He's never been worth it.
My wife is amazing!

Yeah i mean Lawler isn't the first player to leave and have something to say about management on the way out. Think Walters could be the issue with the team right now. I was never the biggest Lawler fan, but messing with his youth football camp gig is greasy, and the fact we only reached out twice and chose Dalton Schoen (who hasn't finished a season healthy since his rookie year and was coming off a torn ACL), Mitchell (lol) and some bargain bin guys who probably had no other offers instead of paying up for an alpha #1 receiver was a mistake in hindsight. Must've not trusted the prospects they brought in either

Keep in mind Ted would have still been chummy with Mafia.  He could have easily let slip to KW that we'd never be able to match their offer in a million years.  Why would KW waste much effort on it after that?

It's like going all-in on the blind in poker.  If you don't have the ponies, you just fold.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on September 12, 2025, 02:27:54 PMDoes anyone really disagree with him? Maybe Dillon Mitchell lol. Too bad that realistically Mitchell won't be able to do anything about it because it's Streveler shotputting passes around Hamilton Stadium tonight.

Yet strangely enough Mitchell's stats were roughly in the same ballpark as Kenny's tonight!  Nice whiffs and big hits you took there, Kenny.

Quote from: blue_gold_84 on September 12, 2025, 04:07:45 PMDoes Kenny Lawler have CTE?

Doubt it.  But he's never been the sharpest knife.  He's on the lower end of the bell curve but he has attitude to try to cover for it.  I'm not surprised by any of his behavior, whether in HAM or here.

He's a super talented receiver, and Mafia made the wrong call as to who to keep as their star REC.  It was a reasonable gamble, but we lost.

I don't even mind him talking smack.  He is trying to endear himself to HAM (team mates and city).  However, he never talked horribly about us when in EDM: he was always very careful to deflect such questions, knowing he could be back.  Now?  It'll be tough to imagine him in blue & gold ever again, which is a bit of a shame.

He wasn't the bombers best receiver. Darvin Adams was better.  Lawler made too much money and was hurt 6 games or so in one year.  Then suspended for a few games in the other year.  He dropped alot of passes . He did better with Edmonton.

Meh.  I sorta agree, but then he'd have games like '24 WDF.  Yes, he was never the Burnham-type most-passes-go-to-him guy like some teams have (because they only have 1-2 good RECs).  But he was superb at opening everything up for the other 4 reads.

Yes, he'd miss so many games.  Yes, he's probably always been overpriced (certainly now).  But you can't deny what he's bringing to HAM, as a great match with BLM.

I think losing Darvin was a big part of us not winning the cup that same season.

I can see why Walters went with dalton and not Kenny, both are good receivers era, but  one is a player of character and a team players, and one is a very selfish me first player with some off field issues. It sucks dalton got injured but who's to say Kenny didn't pull another dui or something stupid. Regardless, I'd go after NAT Tyson Philpot in free agency and we ll forget all about Kenny watch me drop a few more passes Lawler!!

Ya, and Schoen is 10X smarter than Kenny, which is why he was always so good at scramble drill.  We gambled on that knee no longer being a problem.  The outcome sucks.

As for Philpot (both are probably equally good as CGY Philpot is catching up fast and MTL Philpot may be getting a rep for injury).  However, no way we can afford "2 Demskis", there aren't even enough of them for each team to have 1.  And there should be no reason to: we do 2 NAT REC and 1 NAT RB, that's enough.  Philpot-level IMPs are more plentiful and should come at $100k less (once Philpots are off ELC).
