Quote from: Big Daddy on Today at 01:40:07 AMI don't think you get the risks of concussions.  This isn't risking your leg and mobility like Strevy did, this is ability to function as a human beyond age 50, long after you are done football.

But Zach is 3-5 years past that point already.  So what's the point of worrying about it now?  It's already done.  So all you need to decide is whether to just play, or sit and pretend to worry about it.

Quote from: Big Daddy on Today at 01:40:07 AMYes you have been consistent, and I still disagree with it.  Zach is our only hope for the season.  If he's injured, he's injured and you hope he gets back in and we win games because we can't without him.

But almost every QB will take a couple/few hits and fall-downs every game.  Zach cannot take any fall-down and can't take most hits.  Ergo he should not be on the field ever.  A QB with no ability to finish a game should not be your franchise starter.  The team cannot function or gel when you change the starting QB every 2-4 weeks.

QuoteCJOB saying may as well put ELgersma in.  Hmmm I mean yeah why not?
Why put him in, he can't do anything, if anything out Perkins in, but we won't put either in.

I'm hoping for next week, Montreal puts all the starters against Saskatchewan.

If I am a Bomber player, I am getting my A** off that field asap as that was embarrassing.

I don't think they will as they have already clinched first in the east.

Sir Blue and Gold

Wake up call for Mike O'Shea. Time to earn your money and make some hard decisions for once.

This is the point - and I agree.  He shouldn't have been our franchise starter this year, or even last year.  They didn't find any other option, so all they could do was hope he wouldn't get hurt and go with him.

I just can't get behind the idea that all the damage has been done, so why not go ahead and play - concussion damage is cumulative, and exponentially worse when concussed before healing from the previous one.  So no, don't let him play if he is concussed.  But yes - it shouldn't have got to this point.

Granted, we suck, but man the football luck has been going against us for many weeks now.  We could have setups where the other team doesn't need to try, but they do, and then our main West rivals for a playoff spot get the easy game the following week when things are more locked up.

Frustrating.  That's the keyword for this whole season on every level: Frustrating.

And Walters and MOS DID NOT do a thing during the trade deadline again to improve this team. Heads have to roll Mr. Miller.

Then Zach should not be offered a contract for next year if the club is truly concerned for his health. Tell him we will not continue to subject him to head injuries, if walks and goes somewhere else fine, but no other CFL team should sign him. If he is not going to look after his own health, then we will do it for him.

I don't mind the decision to roll with Zach this year, especially with the investment in the OL.  It was a gamble.

But once we had Dru, as bad as he is, and Zach went down again pretty fast with another "head/neck" we should have made the decision to just roll with Dru.  You blow your 1RDP on the guy and your franchise QB can't last a game, you just pull the ripcord.

Maybe we'd have been better if Dru was getting 1st team reps every practice and all the live game reps up until this point.  You can't keep switching back and forth.  That makes us no better than EDM last year or OTT this year.

Uh, the concussion damage was already past the tipping point when Zach got creamed when wearing green and knocked out for a whole year.  Everything past that point was risky, and he accepted that risk (and did great things).  If you want to play medic and altruist, the time to retire Zach was 2018.  But since that's long gone, you just need to decide: retire or throw caution to the wind.  What he's currently doing isn't working.

Again, not wrong.  I can't imagine we would be thinking of rolling forward next year with Zach as our plan.  I mean - again, when healthy he is still good, when he has decent protection.  But how many years can you do that?

To me this is all because they didn't have any options.  If they did for this year I can't think of it, but we all know what we are dealing with this year for sure, so if next year is a repeat, that would be unforgivable.
