Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 25, 2026, 05:38:00 PMI couldn't believe it when they moved Gabe to RT, I saw them experiment with that in pre-season and just thought noooo that's not going to work.  Total mismanagement cutting Randolph who was healthy and a decent OT in lieu of Vanterpool who doesn't seem to fit into their future plans anywhere.  Even Eric Lofton the RT they had the year prior was good at protecting the QB which is their most important role.

Just checked Lofton's status, he was cut by the Ti-Cats in TC so he is currently available and would obviously sign for a lot less than Dejon Allen.

Randolph wouldn't have been on the game AR even if we retained him. Hindsight is always 20/20 I suppose. Any team losing at OT in game may struggle. However didn't the Elks lose both and still find a way to win? lol Longer term is a different issue.

Now whether Vanterpool was perceived as better or just willing to accept a PR role we don't know.

It used to be Neufeld who swung out to tackle due to injury. Maybe getting too old?

Neuf. was never that good at OT either, Geoff Gray had excellent mobility and subbed for Stan a few games as did Lofton.  Going into this season without a backup for Stan is looking like a real bad plan.

The Bomber only have Vibert and Poncius on the PR.

Vanterpool in on the IR. Might have to call  Mazzccua.

Quote from: Blue In BC on July 25, 2026, 03:40:08 PMI didn't know he had a cast which is bad news. The sidelines weren't shown often on TV so I didn't pick up on that.

Mentioning a sling might mean more arm or shoulder than wrist but either way it's bad news.
Was mentioned on CJOB

That was Jake Kelly's 38th CFL game over 4 years. If he is not ready, he never will be. Teamer for life. I don't think Allen is close. Texada isn't a FS. We might have to look for a trade.

Jackson Findlay : BC Lions.  5 games, 26 DTs, 3 STs, 1 Int.

Not a fair or accurate representation of Kelly imo.

He has shown some good development last few games and failed at FS yesterday.  He is not just a teamer for life.  Just because he isn't ready to start FS as of now or likely suited for it means very little imo.  He has been a rotational defensive player for us who before this year didn't show very much but enough to stick around.

I believe he is yes likely a ST but also a decent rotational option for our defense.

Agree with nothing you have said but yes I would have brought in a Vet FS.  Findlay shows promise but we ain't getting him and I would prefer a stud not a prospect.

I am neutral on Kelly, didn't like his game like many but started to warm up to him a bit.  Not fair to judge his performance on one game in a very difficult position to be put in.

No we will never get Finn, but we could have had him in the draft. However the point was Finn in one year he's become  BCs starting safety. And, he is not a prospect he is a starting Canadian safety. Kelly in 4 years still hasn't figured it out. Opportunity's like this either make or break your career. This isn't the first time Jake has been given an opportunity and didn't step up.

our issue once again is not working in a replacement, and when Kramdi goes down you see what we get. Why havent we utilized a young guy like Smith there, hes faster and a better tackler.
Mathew Jackson has impressive speed and can also be an alternative. It seems like Youngers defense is so complicated it makes it extremely difficult to step in.

You have mentioned him before and its real easy to mention we should have drafted him after the fact that he was able to step in and start right away.  That is pretty rare.  Would he have had success here, who knows. I think calling him a prospect was not giving him enough credit after I see the number of games he has played.  Young cdn developmental player maybe a better characterization.

Santos-Kox and Allen are shown as extended on 6 game IR as of today. We may not see either again this season. At best for Allen it will still be awhile since he's not practising yet.

DT recently speculated that Allen had surgery to repair whatever issue got him in preseason.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on July 25, 2026, 12:11:17 PMYes! Kramdi! In Ottawa we only gave up 34 points and 420 yards of offense. I want him back because without him we gave up 408 yards of offense and 45 points(on defense) to a significantly better team.

Doesn't matter. Every cgy rec was wide open and got major yac. I don't recall many wide open busts in OTT... Only difference was: no kramdi.

Look again. We've had major busts in nearly every game we've played this year. The Ottawa game maybe less so but the winless Redblacks and the intrepid Jake Maier are not running Dickenson's offense with VA. So a few more things might be different between the games after all.

One thing that wasn't different: both offenses had some of their best output of the season against our defense.

Maier threw for 344 yards at a 75% clip and you don't remember wide open receivers? And this was the only offence in the league less successful than ours.

If anything receivers were better covered against Calgary. It was the ridiculous display of missed tackles that led to the big plays on Friday.
