I think you've got a valid point on this one.

The final play of the game in Ottawa has Kramdi in on the pass breakup and he's pretty obviously celebrating and seems absolutely fine. I suppose you never know but it's an odd one in that the last shots appear to show someone pretty healthy and happy and not obviously favouring anything.

Wonder if it's a kind way of shuffling him off for a bit. He's just not a safety and it's been pointed out by many here.

I don't think there is merit in that post you reference.

Tinfoil idea imo to fuel your narrative against him.  He is hurt.  If he wasn't he would be starting.  He is hurt bad enough to be on the 6 game.

He has been playing great and is a critical part of our defense and has been for years.

He is not just a FS, he plays all over as Youngers D is as flexible and complex as there is.
Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 24, 2026, 12:35:20 AM6 game is standard now for all injuries, as O'Shea said "it doesn't mean nuthin" he could be back in a week or two or five or six, but better safe than sorry.
Agree critical to make sure you heal one of your good defensive assets and leaders

When's the last time we saw a D player play with a club?  Boy, maybe pre-covid.  It's simply not a thing anymore.  Maybe the CFL or CFLPA outright outlawed it.

I always thought the club things were stupid.  You can't tackle properly in the open field with a club.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 23, 2026, 07:09:23 PMAnyone remember if Ball spent anytime at Safety last season?  Not sure where he's slotted to fit in or if he's going to remain a career STer.

Pretty sure Ball never really took real D snaps in '25, except maybe in garbage time or garbage season.  However, everyone noted how great Ball looked in TC and PS playing as DB.  I don't even think it was safety?  I think they had him at HB or CB?

Ball may actually be considered ready to be the "2nd safety" in the special passing-down sets Kelly usually comes on for.  So the likely set might be Williams - Nichols - Kelly - Ball - Holm - Moxey (and maybe Smith at SAM?)

That said, I would not be shocked if it was vet Hallett who got those looks -- though he's never been very good at it.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 23, 2026, 05:42:02 PMToo weird, I guess he was on RR for some early games so he still has time left on the first 6 game. I'd love to know what his injury is and if their intention is to have him eventually replace Stan.

Please Lord no!  The succession is clear: Broxton takes Stan's spot, and we get a real Yoshi-level RT to improve (or at least maintain!) our run game.

Vant is an injury replacement OT at best.  And a pretty good OG option if we're forced to go 4 IMP again.  Clearly considered as good as Mazzcua -- because Vant is still here.

Quote from: Blue In BC on July 23, 2026, 03:34:24 PMYikes. Kramdi out and Jackson in as a depth role DI.

Who on earth is this Jackson guy?  Why are these guys popping out of nowhere?  Don't recall him at all in PS.

Wasting a DI on a nobody rookie ELC when there's such need at other positions??  Wowzers.

I'm now convinced we're seeing a seismic shift in Mafia Methodology, something we've never seen before.  They are running in-season (hopefully just early-season!) "tryouts" to get noobs live reps.  I don't think it's for altruism ("get the kid a paycheck"), I think it's for Chris Jones-level "tryouts".  Ok, nobody goes "full Chris Jones", but you know what I mean.

Just look at the very strange AR adds this season, ones that have everyone who spends too much time poring over the roster (<hand goes up>) scratching their heads:

Game 7 Jackson
Game 6 Bouliane (2nd chance)
Game 5 Hazen
Game 4 Mazzcua
Game 2 Bouliane
Game 1 Clark, Stuart

This is unheard of for Mafia.  There are many guys at most of these positions who would be higher up the seniority/ability meter they could have gone with.  Or not added someone at these often-times saturated positions at all and instead added players at low-depth positions, like REC.

Can anyone guess the rationale??  Is it simply to see who's good at ST and to heck with them otherwise since they rarely see the field?  Are we unhappy, and don't feel we've found the correct/best final 1-2 guys for ST?  Or are we seriously trying to vet them at their actual position, like on D?

Or are we seriously overloaded on roster size and desperately need to figure out who to shed next as IR's heal up?  Like what we did with Mazzcua -- make sure he's not the next Stan before we throw him on the scrapheap?  And if that's the case, why not use the now-empty RR??

Regardless of why, it's a departure from what I'm used to seeing.  And outside of "bad" teams, you don't usually see this kind of churn for no reason.  Does this mean we're bad?

Adrenaline, especially on a game winning play, can hide a lot of pain. Possibly didn't feel anything until the drive home.

Probably and a defensive back isn't going to play with a broken hand or something. Him being hurt is the most likely explanation.

But it's an interesting case none of the less that he's going off as a bunch of bodies came off the 6 game and the injury was never picked up on camera and he was in on the last play looking pretty okay. O'Shea would probably make a move this way for a guy like Kramdi versus sit him and throw him under the bus wouldn't you say? And our safety play hasn't been great to the point where he wasn't even playing as much safety as the first few games.

He is hurt and on a the 6 game as a result.  There is zero other explanation for this.  All our defensive players rotate and have many looks.

Kramdi drives the bus, he doesn't get hit by it.

Oops. In any case, we'll have to see how they adapt without Kramdi this week. I'm not sure if the rookie DB sees many reps but he may have impressed the team during practice.

Smith is seeing more reps so that might be part of the adjustment with Griffin having his role adjusted somewhat.

Kramdi spent many reps closer to the LOS while Kelly took many of the deeper " safety " looks.

One game at a time

There's room for my opinion here and not everything has to be an argument, right?  Breath. It will be okay that I don't think Kramdi is a very good safety. I understand you think he's super duper super good. I also awknowledged that him being hurt is the most likely scenario. It's just not the only one.

My guess would be Bighill, but don't think a club would stop most linemen on either side from playing if it's not against the rules.

Kramdi isn't a good safety, but he is a NAT and that keeps him on the field

I think the deluge of early season injuries allowed them to delay some hard personnel decisions that would normally have been made at the end of TC. They're now in the process of sorting it all out as players come off the 6-game, unfortunately good players are being released. In regard to Mazzcua perhaps giving him the one game film was a thankyou and a gift to further his career but I have a feeling we may see him back again at some point if injuries crop up.

As to the in season tryouts, the Riders have been leading the way in this regard since last year and are continually to trying to better their roster with new additions.  Maybe Walters noticed O'Shea's "freeze the roster after TC" declaration was not keeping up with the Joneses to the West, who now have the better team in multiple sectors.
