Quote from: VictorRomano on July 24, 2026, 01:49:23 PMRider fans absolutely seething this morning lol.  The rage over the first down spot where the ref rolled the ball is the focus of their unhinged ranting.

"The ref cheated for Edmonton!  The league wants the Riders to lose!  Waaaah!  WAAAAH!"

I'm dying reading the comments lol.

The measurement where he rolls the ball is a call in their favour. Must be a different one your referring to. But your point is well taken. Very little objectivity over there when it comes to calls. Yes it is comical, yet silly and annoying at the same time.

Would love to have Vaughters playing next to JC94 and WJ5.

2026:  6 games,  9 DTs, 5 sacks.

Meh. He's solid but the trade off for letting him go was signing Ceresna. I know who I prefer.
My wife is amazing!

It comes down to how the players are being used, Devin Adams also looks much better in Rider green, improvement this year is more scheme than personnel IMO.

Adams had a game last night. He made 3 of his 5 DTs on the season. Adams biggest problem here was he could stay healthy.

Yah could be, the Bombers went through a series of DT's that needed time off every season, I can imagine Willy and Jake weren't thrilled with the commitment or durability they showed. Maybe that's the reason they were let go.

That's how I remember it too but could be wrong.

There were probably 3-4 third down conversion attempts where the final placement was suspect. There was one where the Riders were short and it was measured and still looked a hair short yet they gave it to them. Probably worked both ways in the end.

Tbh the subjectivity of ball placement, player's being down, having possession, and several other things in the game of football in general have always been something I've had a problem with. No way around it and you have to accept it as part of the game, even though the slightest "breaking of the plane" forward is all that's needed to progress, which is well within the margin of error of the human eye, assuming the official even sees where the ball ended up in the first place. /rant

Anyway, best game of the year so far. It was nice to be thoroughly entertained on a nice thursday summer night with no stress/skin in the game.

There are already chips in the ball, it would be a small step to track movement of the ball live and make that the official measurement for ball placement, instead of guessing by eye.  One official carries a monitor in his pocket that provides him with the balls location at the end of the play.

Quote from: bomb squad on July 24, 2026, 03:11:33 PMHe wouldn't have been able to see the flag. The play was whistled down on a call for a step out of bounds. That's why he threw the ball away.

Thanks, I didn't catch that whistle on first listen.  Crowd was so loud by then it was almost completely washed out.  But game tracker confirms he did step out (and I found it on the slow-mo).  Too bad, shadenfreude is greater if the stayed in bounds!

Ya, the other guys are right: The Valessi-roll was a spot that was in SSK's favor.  I made a diatribe about it earlier in this thread.  The chain was not tight.  Nearly every ref thing went SSK's way, yet they moan about the 1-2 that went EDM's.

I think it was the OPI that ticked them off the most, as that may have cost them the game.
