highly unlikely. Brady easily loses to Jim Kelly?s nephew. Zach has a better fighting chance due to the QB narrative. Unfortunate.

I agree. The media always makes this a QB award. Non-QBs need to do something historic to win (and even then, it takes a down year for QBs to make it happen).

If all of Brady's yards where along the ground, and he set a new record for Canadian rushing yards and passed 2000. He might have a chance because of the novelty and the "record-breaking" label. But the fact that he gets so many yards as receiving hurts his narrative (silly but true).

Kelly is not MOP and I hate that there's so much support for him. He's a game-manager as part of a good team.

All true, but Kelly playing in Toronto is probably enough to win him the MOP, the CFL likes to pump up the Argos whenever they can.  Wondering if Betts breaks the sack record for Natl's. in the next few games if he receives more consideration as the MODP.  Can't think of any other obvious standouts this year and they gave it to Mauldin last season based on less sacks.

I fully expect Betts to be MODP.

they seem to like to spread this around so as long as a player is recognized for one award its unlikely they win a second so
modp Mathew Betts
canadian  Brady Olivera
mop Chad Kelly  (only cause i think Olivera beats out Collaros in the wpg vote, and they likely give the award to a qb
olineman Revenberg
Rookie.. Austin Mack

Pretty sure Austin Mack is NOT eligible for ROY (see below)

Must have been named to the active 44-man roster of a member club of the CFL for a regular season game during the 2023 season; AND
Must not have dressed for a member club of the CFL for a regular season, postseason or championship game in any prior season; AND
Must not have dressed for a member club of the National Football League for a regular season, postseason or championship game in the current season or any season prior.

When he gets good protection from the OL, he's a world beater.  Do you really want to complain about a few more turnovers in 2023 due to some issues elsewhere on the team?

I don't.  But the media will.  It's a ready-made excuse.

Some people have said why doesn't Zach just not throw those INTs or sit in the pocket until those strip-fumbles happen.  But they're part and parcel of the risk/reward of his style.  His style is to always try to get the ball away to a playmaker.  It's like the anti-Matt-Nichols.  Zach throws caution to the wind knowing/hoping his good team will make that little extra block or that extra hard reception.  And that's why he gets the bigger yards and more TDs.  It's a conscious decision and part of the trade-off that is Zach.  And it won't and shouldn't change.

Fun fact: Zach probably threw more INTs this season than he did throw-aways into the stands.

What team did Mack play a real game for?

Seems like a weird thing to eliminate a "rookie" for, if he is a backup for an NFL team for 2 games and doesn't even see the field.  But I get the idea.

Rookie...Taylor Powell edges out Dustin Crum because he won more games, think about it, a rookie QB hasn't won in a while.  Plus if nothing else it gives Ti-Cat fans something to cheer about at their GC party.  Dan Clark won some kind of league award last year in Sask on the same premise.

He played in 11 games with the New York Giants in 2020.

He signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and then with the San Fran 49ers in 2022.

No matter who gets the vote, I think it goes to Kelly. Despite resting for a few games, his stats don't look too far off from Collaros/Adams.

Who is considered a rookie on the Bombers. I think Bennett and Jackson are rookies. I don't think the Bombers have any starters who qualify as rookies.

Yes I agree with this completely and I don't fault him for this style. It's in his DNA to play that style and it's a big part of what makes this offence tick. He also knows that this team has his back, unconditionally, and that a mistake is not the end of the world. As you so eloquently said, it's about risk/reward. I like that he has enough confidence in himself and his team and that his team has enough confidence in him to take some chances. Makes the Bombers fiercely competitive and able to recover from all forms of adversity. I like that he pushes the limits and doesn't play it safe. Lapo used to drive me absolutely bonkers with that approach.
Go Bombers!

Give or take 700 yards and the 10 touchdowns.
