I think we all know he only crawls out when the cats are doing well.

With the current front office SMS rules, I don't think Orlando gets a job anywhere until his contract is paid out, and other teams cycle through their current coaching contracts... but sure, he would eventually get a new gig.

Each of those guys has a plethora of "Asst. GM's" and "Special Assistant to the ..." around them.  If they delegate efficiently, they should have no issues.

GM duties and Coaching duties have different busy seasons.  Wearing both hats might make it more difficult to have "down time" to recharge, but again, delegation is key.

Why the boards on these different clubs can't see that our "Canadian Mafia" is the template that they should be striving for, similar to the ones that have created dynasties in the past, I'll never know.  Who convinced them that you need to re-invent the wheel with hybrid coach/GM systems that don't seem to ever work, and when they collapse leave a wake of destruction it takes years to recover from.

I can understand HC's being rewarded with the additional GM position if they've had long successful coaching careers and know how to run a football team, like Cal Murphy, Huff and Wally.  But it doesn't make sense to choose lesser lights like Jones and Steinauer to occupy both chairs when their success has been limited.

How much of the problems faced by Calgary, Edmonton, and Hamilton are due to their coaches taking on the GM role?

This goes back to the football ops cap that has been much discussed. A guy will take on both roles so he can get a better pay day, teams do it so they don't lose their coach. As we see it has not worked a lot more times than it has. Specialization works.

I really like this kid, Noah Curtis for EE. 6'6" 300 lbs. Drafted 28th in this years draft. We took Bennett at 8, Kelly at 15, and Murphy at 26. And DL is a place we need some depth.

We don't need depth at Canadian defensive tackle though. There's really only one game day spot and we have:

1) Jake Thomas
2) Cam Lawson
3) Tanner Schmekel (PR)

If we had drafted Curtis, he'd be on the PR at best.

I was hoping for the 9th overall pick of the draft that was taken by BC: Francis Bemiy, from SOUTHERN UTah in my mock. The 3rd overall Lake Korte-Moore from UBC was the guy I was hoping would have fallen to 8th, but such wasn't the case. He is having a good season in SK.

What I remember Osh saying after the draft, Bennett's special teams play was the draw for the pick besides DE/DL.

Only if you have the next HC in waiting taking on a lot of the responsibilities.

Quite the reach here. The Ti-Cats were lousy in all phases last night, not just special teams.

Agree to disagree, had Leggs been better Hammy would have been in the thick of it and possibly got some momentum of his leg...as we showed all it takes is a little momentum for Edm. to fold...but every time Leggs missed another the momentum swing stopped dead in it's tracks.

Lawson hasn't played well this season. If you draft Curtis, at 15 or 26, your not drafting Schmekel.

Does your PVR give you the option to change the recording settings? If so, try adjusting the stop time. I usually extend the recording an hour and a half just in case - last night that was enough to get the whole game with a few minutes to spare.

Ya, but on my system it's not automatic, and I can't blanket tell it "record every CFL game for 2 hour extra at the end" because then it doesn't handle the double-headers properly  :-\

So I have to go in an tell it to go longer for each game, which I often/usually do, but have been getting a bit lax lately.  Except for the golf games and 1 overtime game my PVR setting of ending+15mins (which doesn't impact double-headers because it's a different setting) has been perfect all season.

Moral of my story: I need to pay more attention and manually adjust the 4 games every week.  ;D :D ;)

I'll give another stab at TSN on demand to see if I can find last night's game later today... You guys are describing some interesting plays that I'd like to see.

Watching yesterday's pregame show right now.  Boy does Milanovitch look 20 years older than when he was HC in TOR!

Lawson's been disrupting a few times.  He's not getting a ton of rotation though, so temper his stats with how many snaps he actually sees.  I'm happy with him so far.
