That may have been the poorest played game in the CFL this season. It was just one mistake after another. Both teams were guilty of bad penalties, dropped passes, missed kicks, missed tackles. These look like the two worst teams in the league right now.

May of but I am sure I have seen worse. At least there were some nice long passes and a couple Nice running plays.

Both coaches looked incompetent

And one of them was going to win....Tre Ford though was better than Powell....he looks to have potential albeit he will need some time

Congrats to those who picked the Elks to win their first game of the year.

I was pretty convinced with what we saw from Tre the game before that it was going to translate into offensive positives for them, there D isn't terrible and when stacked up against Hamilton with yet another new QB behind the center, and a change in the offensive play calling I didn't think it looked very promising for Hamilton. A couple of the Elks receivers should be hanging their heads when they look at the film, they dropped a couple of passes that never should have been dropped, Tre's numbers should have been much better than they were, although they were still pretty **** good... his teammates did their best to almost mess it up again!

Two teams with new OC's, because they were struggling with scoring, and the HC's cut long time friends.

This game showed that.

QB's that started the year third on the DC, who are playing not because they won the jobs, but because they inherited them.

This was not going to be a pretty game, and EDM did everything they could to fold in the 2nd half again, and Hamilton (unlike WPG) could not take advantage.

Kicking it out of their endzone, running back for a TD called back on a flag, getting into FG range, and missing wide.  That was the end of the game in my eyes.  Before that, HAM had a chance to put EDM back on their heels and bowl them over.  After that, the ending was a foregone conclusion.

I didn't see it that way, both teams managed to move the ball and there weren't a lot of 2 and outs, pleasantly surprised with the future potential of both QB's which I didn't expect.

Steinaeur has gotta be in a hot seat right now...

How much of the problems faced by Calgary, Edmonton, and Hamilton are due to their coaches taking on the GM role?

I realize that they must obviously delegate, but I strongly suspect that they:
(1) Are spread too thin do a good job at either role, and
(2) Are really good coaches who are depriving themselves of an optimum lineup because they are below-average GMs

If Steinhauer is let go, I would think that he'd be picked up immediately. He'd certainly be an upgrade for the Riders, at the very least.

With the current front office SMS rules, I don't think Orlando gets a job anywhere until his contract is paid out, and other teams cycle through their current coaching contracts... but sure, he would eventually get a new gig.

Each of those guys has a plethora of "Asst. GM's" and "Special Assistant to the ..." around them.  If they delegate efficiently, they should have no issues.

GM duties and Coaching duties have different busy seasons.  Wearing both hats might make it more difficult to have "down time" to recharge, but again, delegation is key.

Why the boards on these different clubs can't see that our "Canadian Mafia" is the template that they should be striving for, similar to the ones that have created dynasties in the past, I'll never know.  Who convinced them that you need to re-invent the wheel with hybrid coach/GM systems that don't seem to ever work, and when they collapse leave a wake of destruction it takes years to recover from.

I don't want to rub salt into the wounds but.........if Leggs played better a good chance Hammy could have won......sound familiar?

Congrats to Ford and Edm. for finally getting into the W column. I do question though what happened/is happening between CJ and Tre Ford, Jones took a long time to go to him and has called him out a few times in the media, Ford questioned coaching in public last week and Jones chirped back "to stay in his lane" or something along those lines. Ford may be getting them around a corner but I have a funny feeling all is not well between him and CJ......

It's a huge problem, imo. Even HC's who refuse to hand over play-calling to their coordinators (or don't hire coordinators). If you want to be a HC, be the HC. Let everyone else do their jobs.

Quite the reach here. The Ti-Cats were lousy in all phases last night, not just special teams.

It would be just like Jones to not get along with a QB that just got him his first win of the season.

Maybe its time to trade him to Hamilton for Powell...

Powell reminds me a bit of Zach in his efficiency of movement, he might be a good prospect to go after if Brown leaves town next season.  He's 3rd on the Ti-Cats depth chart so fairly unlikely they will discard him anytime soon.

Ivan easily see Coach O taking a break from the CFL.
