3. With Demski, Schoen and Lawler,,,go deep especially over the middle If we win even 50% if the battles its successful. Bc tends to play with a lot of defenses close to the line of scrimmage. that zone just over the linebackers heads may be available.(obviously oline is key to this) Thats why Schoen being back is so important, with all three of them in that puts a lot of pressure on BC
4. finally run the ball right at Betts, as others have mentioned you need to pay extra attention to him. Also, no doubt Hardwick and Bryant have watched game film of him beating them badly and would love to get some licks in

I think the mid-pass game is BC D's weakness.  Their DBs are very good, so I prefer to pick on the LBs, especially SAM.  I'd love to see us taking advantage of any WILL blitz and get crossers and hitches, or even screens, into that area, with clearing routes deeper.

Lawler excels at the 15-25Y pass, especially against soft zone.  Zach just has to get it over the DL and lingering box-loading LBers.

BC will absolutely be cheating LBers up to the box on 1st down.  We can't just do the normal A-gap BO20 run all the time.  We need to start with loosening the box.  Also, some delayed draw RB runs on 2nd on medium with our OTs escorting the DE pass rush well behind Zach.

Like you said, take advantage of their aggressiveness.  Buck needs to be creative and coy.  I expect some really fun plays!

3downnation reporting Dane Evans will start this week against Winnipeg.

Toldyaso!  The only part that surprises me is they didn't put VAJ as the GTD to mess with our heads.  Are they not even bringing VAJ?  Are they going to dress a different 3rd QB?  I would have pulled a MOS and "GTD'd" VAJ...

Agreed but I think that's a tall order. Betts has been a monster this season.

I think the run game needs to be more versatile but I also think having Lawler for this game benefits the home team. He'll help open up more space for the rest of the receiving corps.

Bottom line: play smart and clean on offense. Discipline and ball security have to be at the top of the priority list.

Edmonton was able to keep Betts under control last game, I think he's gonna come back down to earth now that teams are expecting him.

I don't any worries about our defence. I thought they played great the last game against BC, and they're much healthier now.

The only thing we need to improve on is keeping Zach's jersey clean. Deal with the pass rush better, diversify the rushing game, get the ball out quick to Kenny and watch him burn the Lions.
My wife is amazing!

Yes, our OL will be the key to this game. Buck will have to make sure that ZC8 has time to throw. Some extra pass protection will be required.

Weird we are kind of the underdog at a home game.

BC is simply a better team right now until the Bombers prove otherwise.

Well the bookies disagree. Winnipeg is a 6 point favourite.

Very interesting!!  I wonder what the odds on a WPG/TOR matchup would be?

So much for "power rankings"!  :D

Offensively we need to go pedal down from start to finish. Need to take care of the football and keep Zach off the turf. Establishing the run early will be key to this and keeps guys like Betts from straight rushing at Collaros. Hopefully some improvements on short yardage as well.

Defensively I think what we saw the first time around was VA getting rid of the ball quick. Lots of quick slants, curls, etc. DB?s will need to be aggressive and not give much cushion on there receivers. Dane Evans isn?t as big of a running threat as VA is, but he still won?t hesitate to pull it and run if pressure starts coming, so spying or containing at times will still be a focus.

I believe the boys will be hungry and ready to prove last time didn?t, doesn?t and won?t reflect on how the rest of the season unfolds. Coming off a bye, getting some healthy bodies back. I think we will see a more dialed in team this week. Go Blue!

The spread is impacted heavily by BC starting Dane Evans, I'm sure. He's a QB we've had a ton of success against. He's on a better team now but he's still Dane Evans.

And the fact we're at home.

I have a feeling that BC knows we'll plan for the rush, so they'll back off on that and put more support in the middle where we are likely to target.

My thoughts exactly. Hall will employ his high pressure schemes that will confuse him and he'll turn the ball over. and why not pressure him, until he beats us continue doing the same thing that resulted in us beating teams he Qb'd before

The book on Zac is keep him inside and pressure, if you give him time/space he's so accurate he'll hurt you I doubt they change that, I think BC's defensive coach spent the entire off season studying the bombers. We'll likely need some tendancy breakers

This is likely true.  Solve the puzzle based on last year's outcome -- which means just finding a way to beat WPG.

My method to beat Evans/BC is force him into the short game.  FS always deep.  DBs watching for mid/deep routes.  Evans has no touch on the ball; zero, nada.  He guns that sucker in there whether short or deep.  All but the best receivers cannot catch those heaters when short.  So let's leave the short pass game open and just stop Evans' favorite explosion plays (and the run).  Should be ripe for many INTs.

Depth chart is out.
Unless there was an injury, I'm not sure why we have Jackson in our lineup and Parker out of it now that Burtenshaw is back and starting...

Great to have Wilson and Rose back! Hoping they are back to their old selves!

I agree, makes no sense for Jackson to be in ahead of Parker, Swaray , or Fox .They show Parker on the one game but that may or may not be an injury. Again our lack of depth in nonstarting imports is shown (looks like were starting 8 canadians as well). If it's Mcrae handling punts that makes me a little nervous as he didnt look comfortable last game doing so.
To me having Cole and Jackson as DI shows a weakness.

theaardvark

8 Nat starters...

No one has mentioned Gray back in at LG

DS15 on the one game?  Or PR?  Because I can see him being snatched from our PR...

McCrae on punts with Parke out... we could see Holm there as well.

Jackson is a glue guy, a lead by ferocious example guy, even a Rudy guy.  I think keeping him on the roster makes everyone a little better.

Still concerned about 6 DL on the AR... would like 7 or even 8... is Jackson allowed to play DE with a 48 number?
