The Beard trade is looking brilliant today... for Hamilton.  My god, give away a top C for picks?  And replace him with a guy that isn't a "C"?  Who then proceeds to flub a number of snaps, pretty much being the difference in the game...

There are many head scratcher moves Jones makes, and then there are some just undeniably stupid moves.

This would be one of those.

Korte did play centre in Ottawa.

I really like Brown, there new RB. Very quick and lots of power to boot.

Finally seeing an influx of good running backs being brought into the league after years of recycling.

Who do you see on that list?

Starting with essentially any QB in the Eastern Division

Masoli has had two serious injuries starting in 2019 and then in 2022. He missed most of both of those seasons and will be 35 in August 2023. It's not even clear if or when he could return in 2023.

Harris turns 37 in May of 2023 and can't exactly be considered as the future in Montreal.

MBT turns 35 in July 2023 and he's up and down more often than a roller coaster.

Evans has been demoted to the # 3 in Hamilton. Schiltz is not likely to be the long term starter.

In the West Divison

Mitchell's time as a starter may be done and his SMS hit might make him the next M. Reilly pushed into retirement.

So it's just speculation but some older QB's past their best before date.

And no it hasn't escaped me that Collaros will turn 35 before next season. The difference is his current performance is at an all star level while none of the others are doing that.

Brown with (EE), Logan and Carey, (Calgary). Morrow and Hickson, (Riders).

Wow, you make a good point, I didn't realize all those Eastern QB's were that old but I don't see any of them hanging their boots up after this year as most of them have struggled for many years for the opportunity to be the #1 QB and the big pay cheque can't be replaced.  In 2-3 years they will probably all be gone.

If BLM decides not to retire I can see him becoming an excellent backup that comes in to pull games out of the fire on a team with weaker QBing.  If the Argos had him playing behind MBT this season they would be dominating the East, as Bo could finish off games they should have won when MBT couldn't help but shoot himself in the foot.

It comes down to current contract length and SMS hits. If any of those older QB's is in the last year of their deals or has a high SMS, then we may see a shuffling of the deck.

BLM might make a good back up but is he willing to take a large cut in pay? That's really the issue. In 2021 he was one of the highest paid QB's. If he's not the starter that won't continue going into 2023 whether it's in Calgary or otherwise. OTOH if it's a choice between MBT and BLM in Toronto for the same money which would you choose?

Now he may not be a free agent going into 2023 but will the Stamps keep him or trade him rather than pay his SMS?

Obviously all of these QB's want to start but at some point teams will need or choose to move on. That's always a combination related to age, injuries, performance and other choices in the pipeline.

Using the example of Cornelius, let's say he moves to Toronto in free agency? Who is going to sign MBT as a starter?

Overall the east division cannot continue to be a bunch of also ran teams.

In the past I have long been an east / west supporter but have recently changed to supporting a one division CFL.

Will that happen IDK. The CFL needs to be re-vitalized and that may force this kind of change. It's an over lapping thought regarding " hanger ons " at QB.

I don't think they'll sign him. I don't think there's a CFL team that will sign him this year.

The bad snaps weren't the difference in the game, it was not doing anything of significance with the ball once he got the ball that was the difference. The snaps were low, and playable, not on the ground. A number of Cornelius's throws were 1 hoppers to the recievers, or thrown in the the stands because he couldn't make a play with the ball, that was the difference in the game.

It would be bad news and a PR nightmare to sign this guy.  It would have to be a league edict not to sign him otherwise I could definitely see the Elks making an attempt to do it.

Something like that could be done by agreement of the B.O.G. but it would have to be hush-hush, 'cause it wouldn't be legal to black-ball someone from employment.

The Commish essentially just banned him from the league.
