Better than zero chance in Edmonton. Hamilton can finish anywhere from 1st to 4th in the East.
Did you watch the game today??? Ticats were dreadful and they were at home!! Sask is crossing over and going to come out of the east. None of the east team defenses can deal with their running game.

Yes I did but didn't expect them to be down to their # 3 and # 4 QB's playing. In spite of that they still have a chance to finish in the play offs. Edmonton still has no chance of even a crossover.

The Als only have 1 more win that the Ti cats and play the Lions next. They also have to play Hamilton and lost their 1st game to them in week 8. Hamilton looks to have the easier schedule of the those two teams. The Als have to play the Argos twice..

Just saying it's not over yet for Hamilton. A 3 peat loss against the Bombers would be great.

Elks have traded 3 players already this week. Starting DB Sonnier has been released and a few players added to PR.

Last week I think the TSN folks said the Elks have had over 83 players play so far this year. This must be some sort of bad record in the works. Yikes!!

It's only Friday so we might still see some non injury related changes for this weeks game.

EDIT: Forgot to mention there is some speculation that Lawler might be headed to 6 game IR. Since Elks almost zero chance of a playoff game, there is some motivation to save some SMS I suppose. He as limping significantly last week, so I'm not suggesting he is not actually injured. Just that he may not see another game in 2022 as a result.

I believe the league record for number of players dressed for a season is 100 set by the 2016 Riders.

I wonder who was in charge of that team.

Elks had 10 roster changes this week. That included a couple of 1st games for at least a couple of players. IIRC they added Richards as a new DB to their roster and he didn't even get a chance to practice with the team after arriving on Thursday.

The new RB, Brown looked like an interesting player they added.

Too little, too late.

I envision they might be sending more players to IR to shift some SMS and a few players will just get released outright.

The Beard trade is looking brilliant today... for Hamilton.  My god, give away a top C for picks?  And replace him with a guy that isn't a "C"?  Who then proceeds to flub a number of snaps, pretty much being the difference in the game...

There are many head scratcher moves Jones makes, and then there are some just undeniably stupid moves.

This would be one of those.

I had the same thought during the game. At least 3 muffed snaps.

That said is there anybody on their roster we might want in trade? We could offer them some used Bomber gear from 2021 and some empty beer bottles for refund.

Maybe Ceresna would be a good addition to beef up the interior of our DL.

Taylor Cornelius is looking better with every game, he has a fantastic tool box to work with, being a big QB with a strong arm and great mobility.  He seems to be very calm in the pocket and if he has enough intelligence to progress with his understanding of the CFL game I can see him being a starter in the league for many years to come.  If he was schooled in the Stamps QB room he could become solid gold.  Some team is going to benefit from his future development and it might not be the Elks.

Question is what does Jones do with Cornelius once Tre Ford comes back?  Demoting him to backup with the learning curve he's now acquired won't go over well, Ford would set them right back to the very beginning of their growing pains.  Jones should stick with Cornelius as the starter for the good of their record, but he probably won't. Kai Locksley is an adequate backup for either who can also play receiver, but I don't see him progressing much beyond becoming a 3rd down specialist and a Swiss army knife.

It's been awhile since the CFL has seen a big QB with the intelligence and tools to execute an offence well, many have fallen short in their ability to read the field such as, Dom Davis, Jon Jennings and Vince Young.  The only other big QB I can think of that has worked out decently in recent years is MBT, and he's far from being great at his craft.

Elks are in 2023 extended TC at this point. So once Ford is healthy he could very well get time as the starter. Cornelius might be in the last year of his contact. Elks might need to determine if they can extend him and determine whether he intends to stay or not.

He most likely is, I can see him wanting a boost in salary to at least $200k next year, which the Elks could easily afford with Ford still on his first contract.  It all depends on Jones preference and the notorious impatience he's shown for QB's he's thrown away in the past.

I could see a bidding war for Cornelius in the off-season with the Riders pushing the bidding up, but it would be much better for his career if he could sign with a well established team like the Bombers, BC or the Stamps.  Somehow I see Walters being content with the current QB roster and not being all that interested in a longer term solution, which I think is a mistake as Zach won't play forever, and Prukop is only a rental.

Cornelius could get interest from a few teams which could include trying to make a conditional trade in 2022. Yes the Elks could try to extend him and afford an increase to a new contract. How much he expects versus interest from other teams is the giant question.

Which QB is the QB in Jones longer plan in 2023 comes into play against the increase in salary for Cornelius and his desire to start. Moving parts. Could go anywhere including reaching free agency and testing the market.

A few current QB's in the CFL might no longer be QB's in 2023.
