There is a reason that the NY Jets are also rans every year. Its moves like this. Streveler was arguably the Jets best QB in preseason and that hard work gets you released.

Just goes to show how meaningless preseason really is.

If I were a betting man, I would think that Strev comes back on a prorated deal to the CFL (possibly with us) if he doesn't catch on with someone in the next 10 days and then tries the NFL again in the offseason.
Some people take this forum way too seriously.

I really, really hope we have no interest in picking up Strevelski right now.  Love the guy, but its just not a need or fit, roster or cap wise.  There are teams that would pay him full starters wage to come back north.  OTT and Lapo would kill for him.  And they have the cap space.  He would be just what the team and the league ordered.

But its not going to happen, he has made a spot on a team with his play.  Not the Jets, but the first team to have a QB go down, or any team looking for a spark, they can see what he did on the Jets and what his teammates and coached think.  Just because a GM passes him over due to having more invested in other players, doesn't mean another GM doesn't recognize what he can bring...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Any news yet on Kongbo? He would be the most likely to return to the CFL IMO. Alford is a lock to make the NFL, Streveler might get a new call from an NFL for a PR spot.  Lots of other ex CFL players getting released. Nobody that I think we'd be interested in and might still be CFL rights in place elsewhere.

Strev is a short yardage specialist. Period. Secondly, keeping Strev over a drafted QB prospect would make the GM look bad.

I would guess there are about 50 QB prospects, not in camps, for one reason or another.  The teams need game managers, usually with pedigrees.

We know Strev is a winner, but NFL teams don't.
Strev needs a half season to qualify for his pension. I would suggest he pursue that opportunity. And then come back to Winnipeg. Winnipeg will be quite a different team, with age being the main factor, in a year or two. Having an excellent O line is key.

The RedBlacks have Arbuckle who's a far better passer. I doubt they have the interest or the SMS space to try and coax Streveler into what'd likely be a backup/short yardage/gadget role.

Caleb Evans is also on the roster in Ottawa.

You're overvaluing pre-season play, BTW. It's pretty much glorified practice.

Desjarlais has been released by the Patriots. He might get picked up somewhere for a PR spot as a development player. If not he'd look good back in Blue and Gold.

I'm not sure about whether CFL teams need to wait for a player to clear waivers. Hopefully we're speaking with his agent the second we're allowed reach out.  No guarantees he clears waivers or doesn't choose a different course of action.

Instant upgrade for our OL if we get him back.

He definitely will add some Walby-like nastiness to our OL.   BTW, Chris Walby really likes Drew which is a huge compliment!

Yes, it would be great to get him back. Would be a big plus for the bombers.

I would like a Brandon Zylstra here.

Hmmm many cuts to choose from but in terms of our current need (assuming all are coming back)...
1. Zylstra
2. Desjarlais
3. Kongbo
4. Streveller

Would be happy if we get any 2 of those.

I think Strev hangs around the NFL awhile longer.

But in the this order Desjarlais, Strev, Kongbo, Zylstra.

Desjarlais would be the number one priority to get back in the Bomber lineup. The thought of having Desjarlais and Couture back on the O line and Alexander back in the secondary would greatly improve the Bombers chances of getting a three peat. I wouldn't mind seeing Kongbo back as well.
