Prukop is equal or better than McGuire as a 3rd down specialist, but can't see him handling an entire game well.

Didn't matter who we signed as a backup we weren't going to get someone who was capable of playing at a high level without bringing back Streveler. Nichols is shot imo. Trevor Harris was the last capable backup available imo.
Some people take this forum way too seriously.

Not expecting high level at this point, praying for a chance to win if Zach goes down.  Prukop might be able to pull off a Strev. style victory against weaker opponents with the help of a stout defence and a strong running game.

Streveler ran at a high level, but he didn?t light it up and play at a high level. Great dude to have around but I would have signed Harris before him as Harris could win the grey cup for us in the event of injury whereas strevy couldnt

BLUE BOMBERS TRANSACTIONS: FEBRUARY 16, 2022

WINNIPEG, MB., February 16, 2022 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American defensive back Jermaine Ponder.

Ponder (6-2, 200, Saint Francis, January 9, 1995 in Rochester, NY) originally signed with the Cleveland Browns after his senior season of 2018. He went on to participate in training camps with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans. Ponder was named second-team all-Northeast Conference after his senior season in 2018. He set a St. Francis record with 16 passes defended (15 pass breakups and one interception). Those totals led the Northeast Conference and ranked fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision.

We need to solidify our kicking.. Castillo available?

Castillo has said he wants to give the NFL another shot.

BC just released K Nick Vogel maybe a good pickup for a look-see. Although I preferred a kicker that can do all 3 (fg/ko/punt)

I have no doubt there are a plethora of "good" kickers out there that led their team/conference in PAT conversions and FG %, and that we will see one in TC to challenge Mourtada and Liegghio.   It all comes down to whether they can figure out the CFL game...

Best of luck to him but I think that window's all but closed. I hope the Bombers keep him on speed dial in the meantime.

there's no plethora. even (some) NFL teams are looking for quality kickers.

I am sure both have each other on speed dial... I don't think there is a place Castillo would sign other than here, and unless we have the spot covered, he will be welcome to return.

Edm is reportedly interested in Castillo too. There's no guarantee that he will sign with the Bombers especially if the offer from Edm is higher.

I'm sure he would sign elsewhere. Money talks

Interesting that we're looking at Valvano. Classified as a FB doesn't directly mean anything but possibly important. With expecting Bosa to be in TC I'm not sure where Valvano fits in quite yet.

We have 3 2021 draft choices that should be in TC plus a bunch drafted in 2022 ( a few may be returning to college ). However roster spots are going to be hard to come by. Those players that we already have are very good players and bumping anybody will be difficult.

Anyone have more insight about Valvano and his upside?

Google info says he's a good blocker.  He says he's a good route runner and can catch.
