Sir Blue and Gold

Quote from: Tecno on Today at 03:20:30 AMI think we're trying to determine if Randolph is a PR spare or a cut.  He has to beat out any IMP rookies we have in camp.

Rewatching the early '25 games it's clear that Griffin has a better nose in a lot of ways, and he can bring more wood than Kramdi.  Kramdi got pasted sometimes in big run explosions.  Griffin did better.

Since Allen didn't really wow anyone (except a few plays), the question of how best to deploy Kramdi is a valid one.  The question isn't how good is Kramdi, it's how good is Allen at FS vs Griffin at SAM.

I think we're going to put a premium on run stop this season.  I wouldn't be surprised if that means more beef & violence at every LB spot.

Kramdi is essentially a slot corner in the truest sense. He's good at covering speed through the middle of the field which is how we've used him to date. He isn't great in the run game and he hasn't proven (so far) to be very effective anywhere else. People like him because he's Canadian playing a non traditional Canadian spot but he would be in tough (big time) if he wasn't.

Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: Tecno on Today at 03:16:33 AMThat would hint achilles.

JSK is in no way safe from cutting unless we paid him a big signing bonus.  Which I don't think we did.

JSK was the insurance policy.  An insurance policy that is damaged and can't pay off is worthless.

We can always bring him back after he heals.  Or 6G stash him.  Doesn't help us if Kyrie or Jones gets injured in early weeks.  Might we shop for another backup??

Hell no, the inevitable is happening, JSK, Kyrie and Tony Jones are slowly heading towards the out door, if injuries hasten their departure so be it.  They need to throw Smith and Shay into the fire asap and get on with the program, they drafted them for a reason, it will be a great benefit to the entire team if they can eventually become competent starters.

Griffin and Woodbey have about 40 lbs on Kramdi so they are both better suited to stopping the run, playing him at SAM deprives them the opportunity to play, although I suspect Woodbey is big enough to play any of the LB positions. Kramdi could become the swiss army knife that gets moved around wherever needed and sustains the ratio until Shay or Smith become starters.

Bombers announce they've signed 1st-round draft pick Nuer Gatkuoth.

6-4, 227-pound defensive end out of Edmonton.

Gatkuoth is a little delayed in signing because he was in Denver Broncos mini-camp this past weekend.

Both kickers nailing from in the 40s. Ball flying out the back of the end zone.

I wonder if kickers will evolve to try to keep it in play in case of a miss. That way the single point remains a possibility under the new rules.

QB order in this 12-on-12 (very heavily FWIW)

Collaros
Elgersma
Perkins
Thorne

Didn't see any reps for Terry Wilson

THE PADS ARE GOING ON!!!

DT Cam Lawson is on the sidelines, helmet and knee brace off. Looks like he's done for the day.
Tanner Schmekel took his place with the 1st-team D.

Watching Kyrie Wilson and Connor Shay have slap fights as they're readying for a 1 on 1 punt cover drill is very funny.
Slap rip slap rip slap rip slap rip slap rip and then they explode off the line.

Redha Kramdi also getting the second half of practice off.

Michael Chris-Ike took an inside zone run 75 yards for the score. Nicely blocked.

I also went to practice for a bit today. A few things stood out:

Warm-up/drills portion:

- Thought I saw Joseph More, Bucky Williams, Tyler Elsbury taking snaps under centre (othe than Eli who took all starting snaps)

- Jaylen Smith was working with the DBs not the LBs.

- Dante Daniels and Chris-Ike with the OL

- Just doing unguarded throws to receivers, Terry Wilson and Payton Thorn still manage to throw off target

Scrimmage:

- Zach threw into a mass of bodies and it got tipped around multiple times before Ontaria made a great contested pick out of the air for the completion. Zach really looks locked in on #80

- The very next play Zach again throws a deep corner to Wilson but McGhee has really tight coverage and deflects it. He's the apparent starting corner across from Moxey

- 3NI's in at receiver with the starting group: Demski, Neild, Cobb

- Terry Wilson did not get a turn in this portion of scrimmage. It went Zach, Elgersma, Perkins, Thorne

- The DL seemed to be getting a lot of pressure. The QBs aren't allowed to be hit, but they would have been.

- Perkins quick to scramble, Thorne threw an INT on his one big throw to the endzone (to Woodsbey). Elgersma has a rocket arm but didn't get the opportunity to show it off during this portion. A couple quick throws was all.

- Rocker had a big run and looks good but American RB so...

- Daniels running routes. I saw him catch one over the middle and on the next rep he was running deep down field.

- Kramdi still playing deep. Griffin and Woodsbey on the field as well with Cam Allen playing 2nd team.

Don't mess with the mechanics. Kickers should be attempting field goals as if they are going to be made.

Also, it would only be a one year issue with the elimination of goal posts and the introduction of deadline posts in 2027.
