Pretty much have to win out to have a chance.

It's been over for a long time. Please give the kids more ice time and stop burning out the vets.

Yes, we want them fresh for Team Canada. I can see 55/13/44, and possibly 1/91/17.

Arniel's going to run 'em ragged until they're mathematically eliminated. The tank was never fully embraced.

To which part?

It's been nice to see them put up a fight the last month or so to stay in the playoff discussion, but The Whiteout would be short-lived should they make it in, IMO.

Both parts. Playing to win and not embracing losing.

I'd take 4 playoff games and the hope it can be more over giving up and then hoping we draft someone who won't be a Moose player for the next 10 years.

agreed, but i think they've waited too long to get serious and its a looooong shot if they get in

That's fair. I'd much prefer they get in at this point, too. I'm just not optimistic about their chances against a deep and seasoned juggernaut like the Avs.

And to be clear, I don't think embracing the tank was ever an option. It just looked that way for considerable stretches of the season, and the potential of landing that high pick seemed within reach.

There's playing to win, and there's playing to win the Stanley Cup. If we want to be a better team next year, something needs to change and we certainly can't count on adding top FA's.

All that said, I recognize the value of competing with guys like Lambert and Rosen around and not bringing them up into a losing culture. I just would have liked to see them get more than 9 minutes a night and see if there was some 2nd line potential there.

I gotta say I've liked what I've seen from Rosen and Lambert lately. The latter's goal on Monday night was a beaut.

Toews for the Masterton

This should be a slam dunk.

From couch to being a top FO producer, the Masterton is never about going from m'eh to superstar, but overcoming life altering situations to play again in the NHL.

Toews wasn't a top line performer on this club, but he did contribute, and purport himself in a professional manner and as a mentor.

Yes, he deserves this award.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.
