Hogan's Heroes

Can't remember who brought it up, but here it is:

1. The back-ups: Streveler and Patterson stepping in for the MOPs and absolutely killed it. Strev did everything you could hope for and Patterson brought some juice that we haven't seen since Fred Reid.

2. Wheatfall: The second year leap is real. He looks like he could be a problem for the rest of the league.

3. Bridges: Not in Hogan's offence, but another guy coming in to man a spot that has been consistently filled with all stars, Ford and Houston before him, and comes in with 2 INTs in his first start.

We really suffered through parts of last years with all the rookies we had to play, but they all clearly learned some lessons from all those lumps.

Agree on all but will add the patchwork-ish OL performed very well. Never noticed Strev crazy pressured. I understand that's by design as he's a running Qb so not sure what kind of D BC brought, but the eye test tells me they were #hogansheroes tonight too

Sir Blue and Gold

Great choices, Jesse. Gotta say Streveler played a great game. Not much more you could ask of your backup QB. He used his mobility to his advantage but played a passing first game and succeeded. He made a ton of good decisions and took basically what was there and deserves credit. His game is never going to look flashy but be played the kind of quarterback that you need to win games consistently.

Probably the best pro game he's played so far.

Originally had "The Americans" as my #3, referring to the 3 imp OL, but thought it sounded bad so gave it to Bridges. But the OL was absolutely stellar. Neufeld ended up playing so I'm not sure we want to make any changes there moving forward.

I was going to ask if Neuf ended up playing but was too embarrassed that I didn't notice myself.

Best play calling we've seen in a while.  Real creative and "do what's least expected".  The 2nd Demski TD everyone and their dog KNEW we were going to run it (2 extra OL) as we ALWAYS run it from there.  And we bootleg it to Demski that no one tracked properly.

A perfect delayed draw earlier in the game.

An even mix of every play you can imagine to keep the D loose and guessing.

This is the type of OCing that could have won us the cup last year.

Hogan is the hero.

And we did all of this without Zach or Brady.  Yikes!  Rest of league pooping their pants right about now.

Just watching the PVR now: good to see Hogan is a booth guy.  I never really understood OCing from the sideline.  I think Buck only did it last year because he knew he was bailing to be an HC.

The touchdown pass to Demski...

TSN had a good camera view looking towards the bombers... you could clearly see the two inside linebackers staring towards the middle of the line, and standing close to it, fully expecting run up

Maybe the Plays that were called early helped Strev. He needs to relax a little bit ...

Rourke is a good player but his demeanour causes me to enjoy him doing badly.

Micah Awe with a dirty hit. He's Not in the top group of linebackers in the CFL.

I was surprised...other than a few plays, the Bombers D really handled the Lions.

Great game to watch.

Gotta give it up to Vaval!
We've had a few band-aid solutions since Grant, but it's been an area that we've struggled with. This guy had ZERO expectations, and absolutely killed it!

Very impressed with how fearless he is. He attacks the holes full speed. Very exciting to watch!

Forgot to mention, but he was included in kick offs, punts, punt returns and kick returns. Recovered a fumble today too!

Yeah vaval is fearless. Really decisive too. And makes good decisions .... Interviewed post game.... Seemed to have the "it was no big deal " attitude that they want.

I really liked how he caught punts on the fly instead of letting them bounce. It seemed when ever he received a punt he was catching it running forward.
