"The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms with former Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Shea Patterson, per sources. Barring anything unforeseen, he will join the team when free agency opens.

Patterson completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,655 yards with six touchdowns against five interceptions, rushed 38 times for 134 yards and seven scores while posting a 2-4-1 record in seven starts for the Riders last season.

The six-foot-two, 202-pound passer was a three-year collegiate starter at the University of Mississippi and the University of Michigan, throwing for 8,800 yards, 68 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. He was twice named All-Big Ten as a member of the Wolverines and had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, B.C. Lions, Montreal Alouettes, Michigan Panthers, and New Orleans Breakers prior to signing in Riderville.

Pending free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the current window, which closes on Sunday, Feb. 9. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular team, however, the deals are not legally binding and can't be made official until after free agency opens on Tuesday, Feb. 11."

I would have voted for Patterson over Dukes, but I certainly haven't watched either of them very closely. I'd be surprised if Terry Wilson doesn't get an equal opportunity to compete with Patterson for backup. Maybe Dolegala comes back for a three-man-fight-to-the finish, but he'd be my vote for early elimination. I'm assuming that Streveler is more of a short yardage specialist than a true backup or long term answer as a starter.

I thought Patterson showed pretty well last year in place of Harris, but Sask signed Maier and then Stevens, so writing on the wall that Patterson was not going to be re-signed.

From what I saw last season, Patterson played better than Dukes. Dukes started off well, but crashed and burned/struggled in subsequent starts and the Argos went with Arbuckle, so his ship sailed.

Patterson looked good, in his first season in the CFL. He looks like he can develop into something, I see why Walters signed him.  I m actually excited about this one. And ya, this means Dolegala and Wilson are out.

Looks like Jackson is going to have a lot of tools to work with in camp.

Wonder if there is an issue with Zach?

With Streveler back, I think Dolegala's time here is over, but maybe they let him come to camp and try to impress.

Definitely going to be a competition...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Ok, not a bad decision based on those left to offer a contract without breaking the bank. Wilson might be the only QB to accept a PR spot of these QB's and now he's fighting to retain a spot on the AR.

It does make signing Streveler even more a bit surprising.
One game at a time.

Agree regarding Wilson and PR

Agree with most of what you said but we won't know who is out until end of camp imo.

Agree, heck Strev may not even pass the phyiscal which would bump Wilson up to SY.

Wouldnt Jackson have a pretty good book on Dolegala from BC? Patterson does have a good arm and mobility is better.

Pigskin

Started 6 games for the Riders last year. More of a game manager.

2024: 131/217, 1685 yards, 6 TDs, 5 Int, 7.6 avg.  Rushing 38/134 yards, 7 TDs, 3.5 avg, longest 21 yards.

Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

I m ok with a game manager as our #2, Nick Arbuckle was a game manager, they don't have to win us the game, just don't give it away with poor decisions and turnovers.

Not sure. I was a bit surprised. It might be as simple as Zach's age and possibly this being his last year, and therefore, wanting as much competition in training camp as possible to pick the best two quarterbacks behind him.

peg_city

I know people like Dukes, but if QB whisperer Dinwiddie is letting him go, that might be a red flag.
