Is it "ghosting" to not acknowledge an unsolicited approach?  I know I get 50 emails a day wanting me to buy website services, and many will send a second or third "Still waiting for your response".

I know that if I respond to any, the number then starts to increase, because they know there is someone on the other end.

If you call, and do not get a response, and then call again, and don't get a response, I'm guessing they are not interested.

Football management is a recruiting business, not a sit and wait for players to approach you.  Now, should a coach or player that was of interest to the team were to call, I'm betting they get a returned call.

" If players are messaging the club and being ignored; that's business sometimes...but it ain't a family."

If Jeffcoat or his agent is calling or emailing the team, and the team just doesn't respond... that is simply rude.  Being businesslike does not entail being ill mannered.

Jeffcoat was a stalwart.

There are typically three sides to every story:
 - person/party 1's account
 - person/party 2's account
 - what actually happened

Unless I've missed something, we've only got one side, which is that of the player and made public by the local sports media. And the latter of which strives for catchy quotes and sensationalism to push engagement.

Jeffcoat was a stalwart, no question. He also dealt with numerous injuries during his tenure and missed a significant number of games. All of that would've factored in with regard to ongoing contract renewal negotiations.

The notion that management turned their back on him and ignored his calls - without any other information or context - just flies in the face of how the WFC has operated under this regime.

This is not a fair comparable.

Jeffcoat/Harris/Grant are not unsolicited companies with no ties to the club. They're long standing parts of the "family" who you'd expect to be told if they're in the plans or not.

Again, I have no idea what happened. But if the club is having zero contact with these players then yes, it is ghosting.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't ghosting the act of ignoring someone without explanation?

We have no idea if they ghosted him, or left it at "We won't be offering you a contract at this time, we will let you know if things change"

I'd be disappointed if I were Jeffcoat and not picked up.  But we don't know what his exit interview consisted of, if the team asked for a physical like they did AH33, or some other conditions like off season conditioning.  Or, if the team had just decided that they needed to move on with a younger/cheaper/healthier option.  We don't know if an incentive laden contract was discussed.  Or if any other communication happened.

I realize they are not directly comparable, but once the team says "Sorry", are they obligated to return calls?  Because that's what it sounds like happened.

In the case of AH33 calling about a coaching spot, we have no idea what the interaction was.  Did they say "Sorry, we're set at the moment, thanks for your interest"?  Or just not return his call at all (there being no OC, who was he trying to contact?)

Interesting, wonder what they're planning to replace them with.  Always lose betting on the Stamps to regain their footing, but maybe this year they have a plan to back their actions.  Anyone think they will make the playoffs?

Like most teams today they have about 20 potential free agents. How this works out as to who is lost or is gained in free agency is a TBD.

Any starting point won't be known until the dust settles and draft happens.

they have about 20 dl signed already so it looks like they are going to try to save some cap space there, I wouldn't be surprised if they are freeing it up to go after Mcinnis or Eugene Lewis, who both have played with Adams before and had chemistry. Calgarys recieving core needs a big upgrade.

Guessing we will see a lot of releases, with roster bonuses coming due.
