Alouettes' DE Lwal Uguak to make 2024 debut vs. Ottawa
By 3Down Staff -September 20, 2024

Just four days after returning from the NFL, Canadian defensive lineman Lwal Uguak will be on the field for the Montreal Alouettes when they play the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday.

Uguak was a first-round pick of the Alouettes in the 2023 CFL Draft and made 17 tackles and four sacks during the regular season. He also recorded five tackles in the East Semi-Final, one tackle in the East Final, and five tackles in the 110th Grey Cup, helping Montreal upset the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to end its 12-year championship drought.

The six-foot-four, 261-pound edge rusher was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an injury designation late last month. He recorded two solo tackles, one sack, and one pass knockdown over three NFL preseason games.

Rookie Canadian defensive lineman Philippe Lemieux-Cardinal was demoted to the practice roster to make room for Uguak. The Alouettes also swapped their defensive back depth, with Lorenzo Burns drawing into the lineup and Titus Wall going onto PR.

Despite practicing fully on Wednesday, All-CFL safety Marc-Antoine Dequoy will miss a second consecutive game with a head injury. Rookie Arthur Hamlin will continue to start in his place.

The Montreal Alouettes (10-2-1) will visit the Ottawa Redblacks (8-4-1) on Saturday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. EDT.

Redblacks lose LT Dino Boyd to six-game injured list
By 3Down Staff -September 20, 2024

The Ottawa Redblacks are facing major changes to their offensive line and linebacking corps ahead of Saturday's clash with the Montreal Alouettes.

Left tackle Dino Boyd (bicep) has been placed on the six-game injured list after starting 12 games this season on Dru Brown's blindside. Drake Centers, who started last week in place of injured right tackle Zack Pelehos, will now kick over to the left side with veteran Canadian sixth man Jacob Ruby stepping in again on the right. Former first-overall CFL Draft pick Dontae Bull will dress as insurance after being a healthy scratch the past several weeks.

Defensively, the Redblacks are scrambling after it was revealed that All-CFL strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles. Frankie Griffin (ankle), who has collected 51 defensive tackles in 10 starts this year at weakside linebacker, will also join him on the six-game injured list.

Bennett Williams has been activated off the practice roster and will get the start at strong-side linebacker. American Davion Taylor will bump over to the weak side, while Global Tyron Vrede returns from a knee injury to start at middle linebacker.

American defensive back Adrian Frye and defensive end Andrew Chatfield will dress for insurance. Canadian rookie receiver Daniel Oladejo and linebacker Dawson Pierre will both be returned to the practice squad.

The Ottawa Redblacks (8-4-1) will host the Montreal Alouettes (10-2-1) on Saturday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. EDT.

How long is Dequoy out for?  Their D is massively junkier without him.  I think it hurts Ento the most, as now he has to play legit instead of jump every route, because he won't have Dequoy covering for him over the top (and vice versa).

If we're lucky, Dequoy will still be out when we face them in the GC...

I wonder why MTL has abandoned the run game.  They do lots of short passes and behind-LoS stuff, but are not using Fletcher much for weeks.  He's been a poor fantasy pick after being very good early in the season.  Weird.

And Cody hasn't found any of his old chemistry with KJG yet.

OTT is a weird beast: pulling Dru?  Makes fantasy picking hard.
Never go full Rider!

Dru throws a duck for 6, receiver slipped

I think the average fan might do a better job than some offensive coordinators.

Qb throwing picks and fumbling

Run the ball.
