Is There a QB Controversy Brewing In Montreal?

Davis Alexander is playing very well since coming in for Cody Fajardo and is developing in front of our eyes. Fajardo is due to be back, he says, in two games against the Elks. If Alexander continues to play well it's going to be hard for Maas to pull him.

Does Cody get his job back automatically or does Montreal ride the kid as long as they are winning? If Cody does play how long is his leash in case he struggles?
Go Bombers!

The Zipp

Cody is number 1 and will be that way for the rest of the season.

Alexander is showing well and is Patterson in sask.  they are getting legit reps and doing ok

dd

No controversy whatsoever in Montreal. Davis is doing ok as a #2, but is a long ways off from getting to fajardo s level of play.

Throw Long Bannatyne

Alexander might be the next Dru Brown depending when his contract with Mtl. expires, but still too early to predict.

The real controversy is Milanovich pulling BLM after 2 series, it will be interesting to see how this plays out but if they don't start winning soon, sparks may fly.

Milanovich is a boob. Sure BLM was struggling, but Powell is truly hopeless. Milanovich will be out of a job soon as Hamilton is the worst team in the league by a mile. They're embarassing. BLM doesn't jumo offside. BLM didn't fumble the ball away is there own end. There's plenty off blame to go around as to why the Ticats sucks, BLM is just one of several reasons, but Powell isn't the answer

Ya, Cody has seen all the looks, and though not a genius, he'll handle all the wacky CFL D looks better than Alexander.  So Cody always starts unless he loses like 5 in a row and starts looking doing BLM reads.

But Alexander is great insurance.  Kind of like the Masoli/Evans combo in HAM for '19 and '21.

And ya, he'll be the next Dru Brown FA hotshot when he comes off his ELC ('26 FA?) if he keeps this up.  Good news for the CFL!

None issue handled internally

Cody the guy

Alexander is the next guy and looks great but need seasoning, good comparison to Brown, looks to be a little more mobile

Ticats issue, getting spicy, I expect them to implode

When Maas was hired as head coach in Montreal and he took Fajardo as his qb, I thought it would not work.

I thought Fajardo was plain lousy. But he somehow became a much better player.
and now Alexander looks good.

Maas and Calvillo are doing a heckuva a job.

Besides being a decent QB, and seemingly a great guy, Sask screwed him.  He played injured last year, and Riders management screwed him over. When Sask lost to Bombers acouple years ago when Fajardo hit the goal post, they were on the way to a win vs. the Bombers.  So his recent success is kind of poetic justice.  Every dog has his day.

Montreal management also was brilliant in picking up Sankey and the other guy.

Davis Alexanders stock goes up everytime he starts and wins a ball game. He looked miles ahead of Evans in his first start, coming off the bench in the 2nd half to pull victory from a certain defeat under Evans. Says online that he s in the final year of his contract no doubt teams will be checking this guy out. I d seriously consider bringing him in here to succeed ZC. I don't think we'd skip a beat with him here, and Fajardo is going nowhere in Montreal, but Hamilton needs a Qb and if I was Calgary, I'd be kicking the tires pretty hard too. I'd take him over Maier right now, as he adds a srambling/running threat that isn't there right now with Collaros, BLM or Maier.

I give more credit to Maciocia.  Cody is looking so good because he has the league-best OL.  He has all day, certainly enough time to run the short/mid game Calvillo loves so much.  That's partly why Alexander looks so good, too.

It's like when BLM came into CGY and looked like Tom Brady.  Half of that was CGY had the league-best OL for so long.  That's why Arbuckle looked like the second coming when he got some snaps there.  Then both Arbuckle and BLM went off to "normal" OLs and look at them now...

And also credit glasses-guy with hiring washed-up Thorpe.  I rue that day.  The coordinator staff there work their butts off out-braining everyone in the league.  I think our guys have the brains to beat them, but they can't take a second off.  I hope they are already spending a bit of time every week game-planning against the GC rematch come Nov 17.  If they leave it all until the GC week, they'll never solve the puzzle.

Yeah, I agree. And he is a guy that was sneered at, "lucky" by some people.

Who other than him thought Maas/Fajardo was a winning combination.

AHHH...A BIG FRICKIN' NO! Hand the keys to someone who looks good for only a few games into his CFL career?! Laughable! :D

Similar to the Bombers with Collaros vs Nichols.....why was there even a discussion who to keep? It's a no brainer to stick with a guy who just won you a cup! Latter results proved that wisdom was 500% correct. Unfortunately Matt's career was done after 2019.
