I think back to all the dominant CGY years between 2010-2020, and all of their GC appearances.  They also lost some, sometimes in spectacular manner while on O.  The famous CGY "choke jobs".

They went 2-3 in Grey Cups:

* 2012 (lost Grey Cup against Toronto)
* 2014 (won Grey Cup against Zach Collaros and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, first Grey Cup for Bo Levi Mitchell)
* 2016 (lost Grey Cup against Ottawa)
* 2017 (lost Grey Cup - second year in a row and third in five seasons - against Toronto)
* 2018 (won Grey Cup against Ottawa)

Calgary started to decline after that.

Thanks for the quick history.  Exactly what I thought.  It's not so rare, nor "bad" or an indication of weakness to lose the GC a couple of times while on your run.  If we can win one more in the next 0 to 2 years then we can go 3-2 and beat even CGY's 2010-2020 record.

As I recall, CGY also was a play-it-safe non-bold team in most of those cups.  They played not to lose, just like we have in the last 2, because they knew they were superior, and they were.  But superior only got them 2 out of 5.  I think we go bold next time, and not fall into the CGY (and now WPG) trap.
