If the DBs are so bad, and getting burned by long passes despite having two or three guys running after receivers open by three to five yards is embarrassing.

Haba was a non-event as a pass rusher.  But the entire DL was stout against the run inside the box.  Haba may have been responsible for a few of the contain-losses on sweeps and QB runs.

Not sure what Haba's stats were.  I think we thought this was an easy game so why not rest always-ailing Jeffcoat.  Sounded good on paper.  Not taking losing teams seriously is costing us.  Jeffcoat should have played hurt (just as Grant should), with Haba as DI on rotation.

Whoa, someone's been drinking too much Pepsi, this is your worst idea yet.  It's better for the Bombers to play the long game as was mentioned earlier in the week.  Get as healthy as possible for 3 potential playoff games cause that's what really matters and do their best with current resources in the meantime.  Hopefully Blackmon and Garbutt get a fair shake after the bye week to see what they can contribute.

We gave up 160 yards rushing and yes a lot of it was outside. So many players at fault.  I'm not sure I'd say we were good inside the box. We often see RB's run for 10 yards right past our DT's. Not just this game but all season.

Haba was not great as a pass rusher but Jefferson was even more so. At least Haba recorded a sack and 2 TFL along with 4 DT's.

I'd say he had a good game considering he's only played 6 games and was off the AR for a considerable time.

Hard to know about playing either Grant or Jeffcoat through their injuries. Grant can't even practice. Jeffcoat has had this hip injury since mid 2022? Could they have played? Should they have played? We'd need a lot more info to really know.

I'm expecting Jeffcoat back for the next game but that's more of a guess than a fact. Grant may be out for several more weeks?

Haba had a good game. This kid and a good motor and works hard in practice. WJ5 another game with no stats, however he was around the ball in the 2nd. have.

We aren't winning 3 playoff games.  We just aren't.  In fact, if we have to play a WSF I will say right here and now we will not win both the WSF and WDF.  We'd probably lose to the 3rd place team in fact, as that's our M.O. this year and the bad teams have nothing to lose and no need to gauge their opponent or stay low risk.

So to me you field everyone you need to get the home WDF.  That means the hangnail guys need to play.  Now.  They get 2 more weeks right now, then they all play.  Hansen & Miller have had more than enough time.  Jeffcoat is just on vet hip maintenance like usual.  Grant can probably Strevie it out.

At least when Loffler was here he played nearly every game even though he was more ruined physically than all the above put together.

If no one wants to do the above, or the fans can't stomach it, then you should rest everyone for every remaining game.  Get everyone healthy and 100% rested.  Get reps for all our B and C teams.  Then all the iffy booboo guys can start in the WSF and we hope our talent can get us through to a GC win.

I don't see any point on doing any sort of in between thing.  Either we go all-in on a home WDF, which means all hands on deck starting yesterday in an all-out effort, or we rest on our clinched berth laurels and get everyone healthy and risk none of our stars.  And I really don't see any indication the coaches want to put in the time and energy required for an all-out effort...

This isn't 2019 where we can fight until the end and get all dinged up just to be in 3rd place.  We're not young and hungry enough to pull that off again.

All I remember was either all or all but one of Butlers up the gut runs were stuffed.  It was the one bright spot for us on the night.  We indeed did completely stop Butler's gut run.  The DL should be commended for that as he's eviscerated opponents at times this year.

Where we failed was letting Powell run, basically anywhere, as longer-developing plays always leave massive open spaces for running QBs when they play us.  And I think Butler had a couple of good catches & YAC and/or outside runs?  I'd need to see the exact pass/rushing breakdown for Butler and/or rewatch.  And a couple of other players got some good sweeps/etc (White?).

I deleted the game PVR after only watching the 1st Q. Butler had 22 carries for 82 yards. Powell had 4 carries for 23 yards. I guess it depends on your definition of stuffed. Getting 3 - 6 yards on a 1st down run makes it easier to extend the drive than 2nd and 8 or 9 yards by needing to pass. That was what the Bombers had to do.

Powell's runs were gonna-be-off-the-field 2nd down extenders.  That's what sucked about those.

Butler was getting stuffed, and 22 for 82 is kind of proof.  I think he had 1 breakout run, so maybe it was really 21 for 70, or around 3 a carry?  That's getting stuffed to me.  To make the run on 1st worthwhile I think you need to average at least 5, IMHO.  That's why we stopped running BO, we were getting maybe 3 a carry, with maybe one nice break out.

Is there a play-by-play gametracker that's working somewhere that I can research each of Butler's runs from?  My point is basically that 90%+ of his runs were probably 3 or less, with a couple of slightly better ones skewing the results.  Maybe the (integer) median would be more useful than the mean.

And in prevent O, basically the whole last Q, HAM was running Butler 6-9 times knowing they were going to get stuffed but it didn't matter.  I would also back out the last 2 Butler runs where he got like 3 and then 7 to get 1st down because our D had completely given up and just wanted to be put out of their misery.  Those 2 plays really got my goat.

that's actually what was so frustrating, we did a great job of "stuffing" them on first down, only to allow them the 7-10 yard easy outs , so they could march up the field and keep our offence off the field. Hamilton won the time of possession which is normally the bombers m.o.
Hamilton wasn't looking deep so if we could have played one man under with safety/db backing up might have helped.(at least on some possessions. Our d for this game was too predictable.

You missed my point about even a shorter run allowed a better situation on 2nd down. Do you realize how much time 22 running plays takes off the clock in TOP? And yes it depends on how each run impacted the flow of the game. I know in the 1st half the Ti Cats won TOP by 6 minutes. Essentially a bunch of short plays wins field position and kills TOP. They only passed for 236 yards.

Yes, we got heavily "out-bombered" by HAM.  They basically took the '21-'22 Bomber playbook and used it against us.  Ball control TOP.

WPG is starting to look more like the explosion-or-bust mid/deep game.  Only against SSK in BB did we run a mix-it-up ball control O, out of the last few games.  The fact Zach was trying for explosions into double/triple coverage and weak looks is telling that Buck/Zach didn't plan up any short-game ideas.  Strangely enough, I think we really missed McCrae on the change-up running game.

That final Hail Mary kind of sums up our whole game plan and failure.  What a dumb play.  It's like no one cared at the end except us screaming fans.

I find it unfathomable that any western team can come to our house in frozen November and win. But I am afraid of going to a nice warm BC dome the next week. That one will just get us beat up even further while TO waits for the survivor.
