That place would be rockin' with it...I still sometimes have dreams about attending games at that stadium.  Love IGF but man had some good times and great games at Winnipeg Stadium

There was the west side sucks chant too as the wave cheer almost always died out on that side of the old barn too!

What was BC thinking on last play with  8 seconds left? They take a kickoff and kneel quickly to save time. Why not just take the ball at the 40?

I believe a kickoff is required in the last 3 minutes even if a field goal is scored. There is no receiving team option if under 3 minutes

I thought the decision to take a knee on the kickoff was odd. Although a touchdown is highly unlikely in any scenario, you'd think it would be more likely on a kickoff return than a Hail Mary from your own 15.

Lots of brain gaffes by both teams in those last 3 minutes.

Stats Junkie

My suggestion was to let the ball roll into end zone for a single and scrimmage from the 40.  Clock doesn't start on the kickoff until the ball is touched.

The BC coach talked to the ref before kickoff I assume letting him know his player was going to take a knee. Just so clock wouldn't run out there was lots of time . Should have tried to run it. But glad sask won.

That would have been the smart thing to do!!! Unreal the coaches aren?t telling their players this, zero time off the clock and you get the ball at the 40, brilliant!

Dickenson almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. A litany of clock/game management errors in the final minutes:

1. Calls timeout with 3:08 left to stop the clock when it's the other team that's behind and trying to come back.
2. Doesn't call a timeout when his team is about to take a time count violation.
3. Kicks a meaningless field goal from the 19 yd line with 8 seconds that could have been blocked and leaves a kick return opportunity for BC.
4. Kicks the ball deep on the kickoff.

And thanks to Sask for knocking off BC, putting us in a position to control our destiny.

Ya, I wonder if the cheering SSK fans realize they just mega-helped WPG get to the GC.  Thanks Sask fans!!  :D :D

My PVR cutoff right at 15mins after the hour right when they were going to kick off.  Argh.  How does a non-rain delayed, not OT, CFL game go 3.25 hours?  That's unheard of.  Didn't they just stop showing ads at the end to get it all in on time?

Anyhow I think I can gather what happened based on what you guys are saying.  The ball was falling around the 15 (or less) then Stats Junkie has made a great point and I hope MOS thinks about this stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but clock doesn't start until possession by returned is gained?  So you get a free 25-30 yards for no clock and no risk.  Even if you wait to see the bounce you don't lose clock.  The main thing is you gotta touch it down in the EZ (if it's not rolling out the back) before the gunners arrive.

2. Doesn't call a timeout when his team is about to take a time count violation.

This timecount was inexcusable to me and I was screaming at the TV.  I couldn't believe a) the team didn't have their act together to get the play off, and b) Dickie didn't call TO.  I 100% thought that was the game lost right there.  It ruined their chances of winning by 50%.  You're in full control to win the game with just a couple of plays and you mess it up like that?  You can't take a 2nd down TC penalty in the final 3 mins, you just can't.  I can only recall that happening 1-2 other times in 5 years.

Anyhow, on the bright side, we got to see Dickerson The Lesser actually show emotion and get raging mad and have the stroke-veins popping out the neck, and Aw Shucks actually swore, audibly on TV.  He never does that.  It's like he takes valium pre-game.  I think he needs to show that fire and get animated.  The players need to see that.

Or maybe it's because that TC penalty caused his job to flash before his eyes... had they not pulled out the win.

Game of the week for sure.  And it doesn't screw up anyone's pickems because everyone in Canada picked BC.

Teams have figured out Betts, and BC drops him back too much.  VAJ showing he's not invincible, with inaccurate passes under extreme pressure at the end.  BC still the team to beat, though.  Willie should have a field day with #59.  And SSK showed that it may not be a cakewalk for LDC: we may have to earn it, sigh.

I got really upset at the play where the refs picked up the flag on a UR late hit on the returner.  If you're like me, you instantly thought to a (I think) Thomas Miles play of the exact same nature (I think) 2 seasons back.  I think it was some important game.  The play is etched in my brain.

It was the same thing: returner steps OOB, whistle sounds, returner keeps sprinting like he didn't go OOB, our guy hits him thinking it's still in play (he heard the whistle, but what if a review shows he was in bounds and he goes to the house?).

But in our case command didn't pick up the flag and we lost 15 yards to UR.

More inconsistencies from the CFL...

In the last 3 min, even after a FG there must be a kick off, can't take it at the 40.

Thanks for clearing that up. forgot that rule.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion!

TBURGESS

Riders came out intense right away. BC didn't match that intensity until the 4th quarter. By that time it was too little too late.

VAJ played through pain, and looked good doing it.

BC's right tackle got beaten early and often.

Riders receivers made some amazing catches.

Fun game that came down to the wire.

Not to mention, that hit on Hatcher where he was diving for the ball and the Sask player came in and hit him in the head, similar to the Holmes glancing hit against Cal. But we got a UR and Sask got nothing, inconsistent reffing.
