In the first quarter, maybe.

Absolutely cannot get cocky.  We get burned the most when we're cocky.  Some worse teams play up to their level of opponent.  We sometimes seem to play down to ours.

We also are getting a bit of a reputation for letting teams come back from being down bigly (over several seasons now).  I bet every team and player that's down vs us going into the 4th is screaming to their team mates that they have a great shot of winning.  That is dangerous.  We want that hopelessness to creep in so they don't even bother.  Morale is critical.

We beatdown a superb team last week.  We can go a long way to ruining opponent morale league-wide if we beatdown a garbage team this week.  Everyone needs to know there's no hope.  Picture Stamps 2013-2017.

I say we win, but it's going to take an effort like last week, and it may not be as easy on O because EDM is going to play to stop the explosion.  (Might be a great game for Brady...)

McCrae has handled all of 14 kickoff/punt returns for Winnipeg. Grant has handled more than 200. I agree with Bunker that McCrae is a little wobbly-looking on returns. Bombers really miss Janarion Grant. Hopefully he's back soon.

Grant is arguably the best return specialist in the league. It's not even close when comparing him to his replacement. McCrae is a great gadget option on offense but his return skills are a far cry from Grant's.

One would hope (expect).

Good point on Grant. Probably the best return man in the league. McRae is good on kickoff and missed field goal returns but it is an adventure every time he is on punt returns.

Ducky

So tonight's game could either be a "holy, the Bombers are so good" or throw something at the TV whilst screaming "how the **** did we lose to Edmonton".

Expecting the Bombers to be good.

Statisically, you'd think Elks are due for a win. Bombers 2 losses so far this season both were the kind that make you want to puke. For that reason alone we should be ready for this game. Elks will have to play exceptionally well to beat us. Go Blue!
Just gimme the rock.

Stats Junkie

Earlier this week when DTonOB mentioned that ADS was returning punts in practice I asked him if it was with pads on (no pads). The point being, catching punts in practice without pads is much different than fielding punts with pads on. Punts are affected more than KOs or MFGs because of the steeper angle that the ball arrives.

As an aside, there used to be a fan promotion at BC Place (pre-upgrade) where a fan would try to catch 3 balls launched from a jugs machine 50 yards away. The fan was given a set of 1990s vintage pads to wear - they get in the way. I only saw one person actually catch all three balls.

Changes at coaching and QB, 2 vets Arceneaux and Gainey to provide stability. They will be improved and will have some novelty factor but surely Winnipeg will over power what ever they bring over 60 minutes. The streak continues.

I will be watching how much fight Edm brings if things go wrong. A really dominant win here could destroy their confidence for the remainder of the season. Too bad they are not playing Hamilton for example, where they might have a chance.

Would love to see that here. I miss Wendy's kick to win too though. It does tend to show how good the pros really are.

Free money then because if you place a bet on Winnipeg you only have to cover 12.5 points.

I can be as cocky as I want. Don?t think it will affect the game outcome.

To the McCrae points, we had Parker out there for one game fielding kicks and he had zero issues.  Not sure why he is riding the bench.

Looking forward to watching the game with Buzz and Boomer tonight!
They are out for a viewing party here in southern MB.
Congrats to the Bomber mgmt realizing that there are fans outside the perimeter!

Bombers score early and then our D lock it down.
Go Bombers!

To me the match up of the game is our WRs VS there DBs.

Elks loaded with rookies at that position so you?d think Schoen, Demski, Woli and especially Lawler are drooling uncontrollably. :)

I could have sworn he busted one to the house, or at least a huge return, in the first game we dressed him this year; the one he got that huge TD reception in.  But maybe I'm conflating his returns with that reception.  I'm lost without my cfl stats (ya I know you guys have mentioned other places).  Maybe I'll just go rewatch that game...

Ya, I thought he took one back NEARLY for a TD but was gassed at the end.
