We won't see the PR extended for another few weeks but we'll be considering some players released in the NFL over the next couple of days. Neg list might see changes ( which we won't directly see ).

Before that happens we'll possibly get a few players back from our IR. That will create some possible shuffling across our roster. As usual seeing whether any of the 6 game IR players participate in practice this week. In theory a couple can and could be back for Banjo Bowl.

There will be many players that will be interesting in a chance for a look see in the CFL. Can never tell who we might be interested in. I'd guess maybe another receiver, LB's and DL in general. We are already fairly deep at DB but if a good one comes available maybe we snag one of those as well.

Practice this week starting Wednesday?

Could do that. When Nichols briefly left the game against Montreal Darby came in at safety and Alexander moved to half back. Ford "played" field corner so not 100% sure if he would be good fit at safety or half back even as an emergency get out of the game guy. If we get Ford back I think we're more likely to replace a linebacker with Ford, which would give us an in-game corner backup and the experience and versatility of Darby. Ford was good on the cover teams so whoever we replace wouldn't be a drop off.

The secondary has great depth already, I don't think getting an NFL tryout will elevate Ford's position on the roster, if he comes back he's still going to have to take a seat at the back of the bus and wait his turn.  Maybe next year the landscape will shift.

Except that he can be very good on ST's. I wouldn't expect him to be fighting for a starting DB or even next up back up necessarily.

The problem is that we may not be able to PR him. He could decline and move to another CFL team or continue or even chase the NFL dream through the 2023 season.

So I see him on the 1 game IR as the worst case scenario. Best case is he'd added to AR. How that impacts the roster is the question.

As far as getting other NFL DB's for tryouts it's a case of who we are interested in and who might be willing to look to the CFL. Some candidates might look to good to not take a look.

So it comes down to who is in that " pool " to consider. There will be many players but not all will be interested in the CFL etc etc.

I don't think the Bombers should be shopping for DB's at this time, it may be time to look at the excess and seek a trading partner.  Bob Dyce may be interested.

because Ford can play special teams (and i would give him a shot at returner as well) he would be a quality add to the roster. If a db goes down he could step in and do fine. (in the past few weeks we've seen other teams run into secondary problems in game) He easily adds more value than exume, briggs and caldwader. He also younger which this team needs to get.

They wouldn't be shopping per se. Keep in mind these players are mostly for the expansion of the PR by 5 players. A quick look for invitation to TC 2024. Most of our secondary will be potential free agents although we probably get them to re-sign.

You do need a bunch of extra ones for TC to run drills.

Every TC they seem to bring in bucketfuls of cheap DB's even if only one opening is available, it's getting to the point  they have some good quality DB's that are not getting the opportunity to perform.  Potentially could lose 2 starters in F.A. and maybe some of the current backups if they become disgruntled with their role and lack of playing time.

Ford in - Darby out?

issue is he may make the Packers practice squad, he played 16 snaps and had a very high defensive rating.

DCM

The #Jaguars waived QB Nathan Rourke, per source. The former Ohio U and CFL standout had a strong preseason and could return on the practice squad, if he clears waivers.

The cynic in me says Rourke clears waivers, accepts the PR spot and ends up back in the CFL before the next season.

I hope someone picks him up, he looked pretty good in pre season

Pete

Tyrell Ford was also waived, as expected, now to see if they sign him to the practice roster

He'll land on a PR but not sure he's coming back any time soon. Streveler lasted until this pre season and Rourke is 3 times the QB.

GOLDMEMBER

Rourke will toil on the PR of someone for the next 3 years. Nothing to see here.
