TORONTO - The Toronto Argonauts will have their captain steering the ship for the foreseeable future.

Toronto signed head coach Ryan Dinwiddie to a multi-year extension to continue leading the Boatmen, the team announced on Tuesday.

Dinwiddie is in the midst of his third season as head coach and has had tremendous success as a first-time leader of a CFL team. The California native guided the Argos to a 9-5 record and an East Division crown in his first season at the helm, while being named a finalist for CFL Coach of the Year.

In 2022 he was once again named East Coach of the Year, winning the East Division with a 11-7 record. Dinwiddie led the Argos to a win against Montreal in the Division Final before capturing their 18th Grey Cup championship with a victory over Winnipeg in November.

Excellent coach and decent player.  Key cog in the CFL.  Very proud of him.

He was a good college player.
Yes he was outstanding there. Not as a pro. I thought we were talking pro only on here.

Mediocre at best...

During his 3 years as a backup in Winnipeg, his career CFL statistics are 58.2% completion percentage, for 1,581 yards, 6 Touchdowns and 9 Interceptions, for a Passer Rating of 73.8. He also rushed the ball 23 times for 112 yards, 1 Touchdown, and 2 Fumbles.

Facts are facts.

I was speaking to his entire career as a QB.  He played well in college, made a pro team, had a few good showings and did his best in the big show.  I am not here to make strong argument for or against him.  Just called him decent.  I look at him as a decent player seeing what he accomplished as a whole.  I don't see any value in trashing him.  Let's agree to disagree.  Would you call him a terrible player to his face?

Yes the CFL stats don't do him any favors.  Hard league to be good in let alone make the roster.  Mediocre or decent let's not split hairs here.  Fact is I was speaking about his entire career.  No need to pile on.  I like to look at the big picture.

Dinwiddie was a very smart QB that did not have the physical tools to be a successful pro. Good coach though.
Some people take this forum way too seriously.

Those smarts are showing now in spades.
