so will everyone else in the league, same for edmonton....I don't see us 'crushing' BC or Toronto though and Calgary gave us a good go recently, so we don't crush everybody, in fact , we got crushed recently, so don't throw the word around carelessly.

Give it a rest.

Yep, the years of domination have slipped by, the competition has stepped up and the winner of this year's Grey Cup is no longer a sure bet.  Stamps were a dominant team for over a decade, in all that time they only won the Cup 3 times, Bombers are entering the phase of always being competitive but not necessarily winning every key game, competition is good for the CFL.

I liked the guy too and he may have potential. Like I said, I'd rather have kept him on the PR than some of the current candidates. Any team is one play away from losing a QB or any given player.
Totally agree.  So hard to develop a young QB and been too long here since we have done so.

I thought Pigrome was finally that guy.  He had all the tools to be a good CFL qb, great runner and great arm.  Plus he showed really well early on in his exhibition game opportunities.  Was excited to see this guy develop.  Sure Prukop is the better short yardage guy but that's it, totally a specialty guy.  He'll never develop into a useful CFL qb that you can depend on for productive playing time.

I know it's a business and they couldn't make it work, but I would rather have tried to work with Pigrome or Brown to get better on short yardage instead of bringing in Prukop at the expense of Pigrome.

I also would have loved to see them keep Pigrome as the potential future development guy.
BUT the Bombers made the right move to snag Prukop over him. We are at the level now where we are consistantly competing for the championship, and we can't waste much time to develop players. We need to strike while the iron is hot! The difference between scoring on a QB sneak and turning the ball over on the one yard line can make or break a season.
The fact is that Prukop is ELITE at the short yardage plays!

I agree with this too.

Was a tough situation. Would have rather have seen a different roster move to keep them both.
I assume that they explored all options though.

Will be interesting to see how Pigrome does in Ottawa. I?m cheering for him. The CFL desperately needs some new exciting qb talent.

My original post referred to crushing Ottawa even with Piggy T going there with some of our plays.  I believe we can crush anyone.  Reality is most teams, most years anyone can beat anyone (it's what makes the CFL awesome).  I still believe we are the best but agree BC and TO are less crushable lol.  No need to get snappy.

Agree

I agree with some of the other posters about how we are less dominant but when healthy I believe we are as good as we ever have been.  Trouble with getting old is staying healthy but I see a bright future in Bomber land.  Just need to keep dominating the lines of scrimmage and keep Zach healthy.  The rest if gravy.

Same. He was lots of fun to watch and I just want to see him play more!

Prukop is not simply a short yardage guy.  That he played useful live game snaps in the USFL says a little about his abilities.  Short yardage is his wheelhouse, but if he is needed, he can play the QB spot, and as the year goes by, might even have a package or two in the playbook.

Piggy was interesting, but the number of interesting prospects we've seen flame out in the past is long... Prukop may not be starter level, but he is proven and a known quantity, with the upside of being a Short Yardage specialist.  And  he was an excellent holder, not sure if Castillo might make the change...

he should only be a short yardage guy. Cutting Pigrome was short sighted (or at least not bringing in another QB) and now we have two QBs until Brown is back.

Pigrome was added to Active Roster while Dunniway was added to PR.

Arbuckle will be the #2. Piggy is #3.

TecnoGenius

Arbuckle isn't getting you more than .500.

I bet OTT goes into MTL-a-few-years-ago mode and just runs through as many raw nobody QBs as they can.  What was the record MTL set that year?  6?  7?

The fact they haven't gotten D.Evans on trade means there is no competent CFL starters left for OTT to obtain.  So they have to hold perpetual live tryouts and hope they strike a Rourke or Kelly or BLM or M.Reilly.  Good luck with that.

In the meantime, we all agree it'll be fun to see Piggy start a couple of games!!  Crum might be fine, too, but being the next immediate-superstar, low odds on that one.
Never go full Rider!

In this league you have to be a consistently good passer. Pigrome, even in college, never demonstrated that ability.
