JJ94 is a force when he is healthy. However, in the five years he has been with the Bombers he has missed 22 games. The Bombers paid him $175K last year. Did he earn it? Should he get an increase in pay? Is there a better value out there for less money?

Thankfully, I don't have to make this choice.

He is 100% worth it when healthy.

But look at the Grey Cup: he's our best player on the field through the first half, but then gets injured and is unavailable at the most critical times of the game.

Tough contract to negotiate.

I think re-signing Jeffcoat is a priority, despite his health issues the last few years he's the one player that elevates the D-line to the best in the league in games he plays.  It would be great if they could find another DE of his caliber but they haven't yet, and there are few as effective as he is in the entire league.  Jefferson's ability to get through to the QB would be reduced severely without a player of Jeffcoat's ability to cause chaos on the opposite end.

We have a couple of players that fit this dilemma.

Wilson: 2019:  18 games, 63 DTs, 4STs, 3 Sacks, 1 INT, 1 TD.

In 2021 and 2022, he's played 11 of 32 games.

However, in 2022 he was off to a great start.  4 games, 17DTs, 1 STs, 1 Sack.

Signing Wilson is just as much of a priority, he's a huge difference maker when he plays.  Hopefully he can overcome the injury bug as he has the ability to take over from Bighill as the lead LB in the next few years.

I agree a potential new contract in a most difficult circumstance.
I LOSHT MY MEMBER IN AN UNFORTUNATE SHMELTING ACCSHIDENT!

22 games missed in 5 seasons isn't that significant not when compared to Wilson who is also a stud when healthy which isn't even half the time.

Difference being I don?t think Wilson can demand as much money as Jeffcoat. He?s a no-brainer. Jeffcoat is a tough cost-benefit analysis and we will likely be on the same or slightly worse cap position as after winning last year.

I dunno if they will be in a worse cap situation this year than last, who do you see asking for a big raise?  The other side of the equation is looking at places they can trim a few over-priced contracts.  Ellingson looks to be an obvious choice but with Schoen potentially leaving that would open 2 major holes in the receiving group, and I don't know if BOLO or Agudosi are able to fill those spots and perform at a high enough level.

BOLO looks to have potential and Agudosi looked even better in the two brief starts he had.    Agudosi is a big question mark with regards to injuries.....however when he did play he looked unstoppable!!

Agudosi really only had one good game. He was 6/7 70 yards, 2TDs. This guy is still a ???

in regards to cap situation, we have less players that had an allstar season this year, so that may have an impact. (ie hardrick, darby, Jeffcoat, Couture)
Also not sure if we will keep couture at 180k which would free up signifcant dollars.

JJ worth every penny, players with this talent are rare.  Need to he paid what he's worth.  Wilson same same.

Maybe the Bombers should find a DE to rotate with JJ, so that he not injured when the playoffs start. Not sure if Keion Adams can fill in, or if we need to find another DE.

I don't recall if this has been discussed already but they didn't even dress Adams for the G.C., thus when Jeffcoat went down they had to use DT's in his place. Huge fail for roster usage.
