Can we get Shoen more involved with offence?

He has been quite the weapon but did not see the ball until the 4th quarter last game.  To be sure  Calgary covered him like gravy on fries, but seems like we could have done more.

You kind of answered your own question there.

I'd rather Zach concentrate on hitting the open guy rather than trying to force it in to anyone.

There seems to always be a main guy.  Demski got nothing the game before...they find the weak links and exploit them

I think its a matter of ZC going through his reads and getting the ball logically to the open guy. Everyone gets their fair share of balls thrown to them, if Shoen isn't open, that means Demski is in single coverage, or Bailey or Woli etc etc.

Yup yup

It will always vary game to game. Pierce will exploit the opponent weaknesses and trends in the game plan. It doesn't matter if we throw to Schoen 90% of the time or 5% of the time. If Collaros is throwing the ball to the right read and marching the ball down field, that's a successful formula. His completion rate in the last game was 73.1% and we won the game.

McCrae and Demski were dominant in the receiving game. Woli and Bailey added in critical catches. We're 10 - 1. No problem.

In other words, none issue handled internally? ;)

Yup, you guys are smart.  CGY decided Shoen was the main threat and took him away.  I tried to watch him @IGF and he was getting blanketed.  They needed some extra creative and crisp routes to get anything open.

That said, there are ways to get it to a guy like Schoen in tight coverage: rail passes nearly OOB that only he can catch, and corner fades in the EZ, etc.  Low percentage, but worth a shot or two.

When Ellingson comes back it'll open Schoen more.  In the meantime, take our other guys in fantasy  :D :D

I think Schoen has "adlibbed" more than any other WR, he just finds the open space.
Pretty sure he often goes away from his route to get open, you could see him & Zach talk about it often in games.
I think this past game was due to more focus on him, and limiting the space around him.
Probably why McRae had more chances. If McRae can make some plays in these next 2 games, he'll be a hero.

McCrae just gave defences more problems to deal with in the next few games.

I noticed on one pass to Demski that Colleros was directing traffic and pointing at Shoen to go deep before dropping it off to Demski for a first down. I think that as Shoen and Colleros work together more they will get more in sync with each other which is a nightmare for other defenses.

Toughest thing about success is it puts a target on you.  But for the team, the more players with targets on them, the more that are left to get open...

With teams targetting Ellingson and Bailey at the start of the year, Shoen gets open.  As focus turns to Shoen, McRae gets some looks... so long as the team continues to find quality players to fill those 4th and 5th receiver roles, those opportunities will continue for Collaros to find outlets.

Agree, and lets just hope we have Ellingson, Schoen, Demski, and Woli all there for the real games.  I'd take any of Bailey, Grant, McCrae, or Agudosi for the 5th guy.

Many good comments posted about our receivers......both McCrae and Demski made a huge impact in the game.....similar to Agudosi in his first start as a Bomber against the Stamps no less.    Schoen was getting special attention which gave other receivers more space to make plays.   Schoen will get to shine at some point later in the season....he's too good not to.
