I don't usually but Edmonton was playing Toronto last week, Edmonton's D had been scoring good points all year with the D and they were playing the Argos, of all teams... so I bit, bought in, and the laid the egg... ZERO pts...

Brescasin has been solid all year as well, I was a little surprised... and Wilder, I swear that yesterday morning there was no talk about him not playing, lol...

Yes, the shocking thing about Brescasin is he's a NAT!  He's turning into a very dependable, consistent guy for CGY.  He's been around with them since 2016.  The fantasy points he got a week or two ago were crazy high for a NAT.  There should be some sort of fantasy discount on the price of NATs...

I'm not sure when he became a scratch but I had Wilder and I checked my team yesterday morning to see about any last changes and I didn't see that he was scratched then....

Do you not check the Depth Charts under Game Notes on the CFL site? These are usually up the day before the game and I saw that James Wilder had been dropped from the game roster by the Argos.

I'm still kicking myself for not doing the same.

And I hate the Stampeders but like the Eskimos! I try so hard to pick rationally but sometimes it turns out that I should have gone with my heart after all.

I still wish we could pick NINE positions with a salary cap of $50,000:

QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
WR
CANADIAN RB or WR
KICKER/PUNTER
DEFENCE

Not that a Fantasy participant would be prevented from doubling up on Canadians by picking more for his RB or WR slots, but he'd have to pick one anyway.

actually I do, and I checked my roster that morning... I guess I just overlooked it, or, maybe I didn't refresh my screen... I don't know, but I'm usually very attentive to managing my roster, right up to a few hours before game time..

this will be my worse week yet, but, I've got 12 more to go so don't sleep on the Chevelle! lol...

oh, now that would be a cool twist, especially since it is the CFL... I like the Canadian pick as a slot on the roster... you ought to submit that to TSN, maybe they throw that in next season... just a thought...

I've made the suggestion to Sully at the CFL head office. He's responsible for administering the Fantasy program.

After all since it is the CFL, why should we Fantasy participants not be forced to play a version of the same Import vs. Canadian ratio game with which CFL head coaches must contend? My thinking is that all Canadians would be coded with a C. While a Fantasy player might be allowed to leave the CANADIAN slot on his roster unfilled, the program would reject his lineup unless he had at least one Canadian QB, RB or WR selected. KICKERS wouldn't count for filling the Canadian quota.

Or you can make it that you have to have 2 NAT's starting on your fantasy roster... so, Harris and Sinopoli make every roster...

I'd like to have a special teams player and instead of a whole defence a specific player on defence.

The consensus of the experts indicates that you're wrong. Check out the top nine Fantasy players in the overall standings.

I don't like either of those ideas at all.

With respect to the special teams player, these fellows are almost invariably either RBs or WRs and often do multiple duties. How are then the special team players to be separated out from the RB and WR lists? And of course a Fantasy participant already has the option to pick these special team players among his RB and WR picks.

As far as picking actual Defence players, since Fantasy participants are picking six Offence players, why would there be only one slot for Defence players? Why should there not be individual slots for DLs, LBs and DBs? I'm presuming tackles would have to be scored. But this means twice the work for the organizers/programmers since every Defence player would need to be rated as well. So it's not practicable.

What could actually be done to give Defences more clout in the scoring is double the points allocated for interceptions, fumble recoveries and sacks without making Defences correspondingly more expensive. That way Fantasy players could not just merrily fixate on each team's offensive capabilities.

So this week is unfolding as all the others so far this season. Right now I'm ready and raring to go in the full expectation that I'll crush all opposition with my shrewd selections. By late Saturday evening though I'm likely to be mired in another morass of self-recrimination wondering what the hell I was thinking earlier in the week.
