One more thought; maybe people with reffing experience can chime in:

What if the refs in tough and fast situations like this are trained to spot to the nearest hash mark?  It seems a bit convenient that the ball was spotted right at the mark.  Come to think of it, isn't this fairly common?  If true, it could be the ref just doing as he was trained, and humanly capable of doing, and since I believe the ball didn't make it past 1/2Y extra, the spot was perfect.
You?re trained to spot the ball on the field where the tip of the ball went dead, there is no locating nearest has mark. That spot was atrocious and the ref should be embarasses, clearly reffing in a league beyond his capabilities.

It was a bad spot.

As was the PI call against Kramdi.

The spot is the spot.  Whether it is right or wrong is up to the eye in the sky, or a challenge if you have one.  For every spot that goes for you, another goes against.

The only reason this is an issue today is because BC could not convert 3rd and less than a yard.  That is a gimme play.  You have a yard free to start with.  We stuffed them, and likely ended D. Davis's career.

3rd and one for us usually results in a play covering 3 to 12 yards with Prukop (any Piggy fans still around with Prukop's play of late?)

Yet somehow, Hall's D dials up 3rd and one stops on the regular.

Late in one score games.

You cannot miss those plays if you want to win a cup.

Dom Davis needs to attend "Sneak school".

The spot is the spot idea only works when it goes our way. If it went the other way, we almost surely lose the game.

The sneak was from just about a yard away and at worst it should have been 1/2 a yard away. The result is that we get the ball back with a chance to tie/win. It shouldn't happen in a professional ball game.

One call, one play doesn't define the game, but that one was pretty close.

VA stepped out of bounds just shy of the 52 yard line. They spotted it correctly where his foot stepped on the sideline. Here's the highlights, starts around 9:35 or so ...

Thanks for the video.

It's not where the foot goes out it's where the ball is when the foot goes out. At 9:42 of the video. Ball should have been marked at least 1/2 a yard forward of where it was marked. Not a first by my eyes, but way less than the full yard they ended up needing.
