Title: 2023 NFL Season
Post by: The Zipp on May 12, 2023, 04:11:37 PM
The previous NFL thread that was pinned hadn't been touched in a year so I will start a new one.  The NFL hype machine is just awesome, the schedule release videos put out by some teams were great - Chargers and Titans were really good.

Picked up our tickets to see Patty Mahomes play the Vikings in Minny on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend - going to be great !

NFL just keeps getting bigger. As a Bengals fan, glad the deal is finally done.

Also, lol @ Chiefs.

Greatest league on earth...Toney couldn't catch cold and they really missed Kelce...big win for the Lions and Dan Campbell...loved the fake punt.  Wanted to see more of Gibbs running though - the little bit we saw was pretty good.

So glad the Banjo Bowl was moved to Saturday so that I can hunker down in front of my TV's and watch "7 hours of commercial free football" on red zone on Sunday.

We now will have football until the first week of February!!

Lions did not even play that great on offence and still won lol

Chefs have no receivers of value on their roster.

The Hunts are cheap. Need Jones back.

Ha Ha Giants - what an embarrassment...Cowboys defence looks incredible - we shall see if they can continue this dominance.  Great opening weekend so far, some really good games in the later window yesterday.

My Steelers have some work to do as well - 49ers will be contenders if Brock plays like this and stays healthy

Yes, Dallas D was pretty good, but it's only game 1.

high ankle sprain it will take weeks to come back from that. Rogers should have been given a penalty for throwing the ball at a Bill defender after the whistle. Big cry baby. Boo hooo. lol

BILLS TOUCHDOWN. Nice drive! Allen is a warrior, hard to not cheer for that guy.

Zach Wilson terrible throw PICKED OFF. Jets fans may they wallo forever :D

Jackson (despite the win)

Cousins

Love looked great as did Mayfield and Goff

Snapped out of it to force OT

What can Allen do with first OT possession opportunity

Perhaps should have just retired a Packer.

There's the risk with trying to play this sport a little too long, I guess.

from some videos I am seeing this morning it sure looks like an achilles pop...you could see it in his eyes - he legit looked heartbroken.  Biggest story of the offseason gone in 4 plays.  That Jets defence will keep them in some games for sure.

Josh Allen just plain stunk though.

Josh Allen has reverted back to his terrible turnover ways. He is not a top QB right now.

He had the same problem last year. He panics and makes poor decisions consistently. I would love to say differently because I am a huge Bills fan and I like Allen but jeepers creepers what was he thinking on a couple of those throws?
He was way better 2 years ago. I hope he improves but that was a real shaky game 1.

Vikings get ***** slapped by the Eagles.

Run defence was beyond atrocious I think 230+ rushing against.

JJs dumb fumble for the touchback in the first half was a killer as well.

Vikings are for ever an enigma.

Not miserable, not "target market" for sure, but I find it hilarious that the NFL and Pixar think that this is worthy of spending the time and money on.  Is it trying to build a youth audience?  Is it trying to capture adult animation fans who don't watch sports?

The Nickleodeon slime games were amusing and maybe it is just this exact response they are looking for, getting people who don't talk about NFL talking about NFL.  The old saying that "any coverage is good coverage as long as they spell your name right" might just be what they are going for, but I can't imagine this attracting very many eyes, TSN doesn't seem to have picked up that feed (my wife wanted me to PVR it, so I searched)

SO there's that, although I don't think a "Toy Story" version of the game will get my wife to watch NFL regularly, or bet on it...

It's almost as if the NFL is a sports entertainment juggernaut brimming with riches, so it can do whatever it wants to build on an ever widening audience.

The useless anecdote of yours is at least comical.

The Toy Story game was well received from what I could see.  I don't subscribe to TSN+ but there were enough clips of it on social media for me to see that it was pretty cool.  NFL is so far ahead in some things it isn't even funny.

Matt Canada is an embarrassment to the country and he isn't even from here...I know it isn't the "Steeler way" to fire coaches but they gotta get him out of there.  The offence is a joke...Joe Burrow is still broken and the Cowboys defence is dominant.  Just kinda ticked off I have to watch the giants in prime time again..

Excited to Mahomes and Kelce live in action this coming weekend!!  I am not sure the Vikings can keep it close - it will be real fun in there if they can - SKOL!!

Vikings game was super fun..the stadium experience is great - they even have fake snow falling from inside the stadium.  They just played too sloppy to beat the champs, too many drops, too big of a cushion on recievers and burning their time outs waaaay too early

I couldn't call them frauds when they've had so much success over a multi-year period.

But their defence isn't as good this year and it's hurting them. Allen  is perhaps trying to do to much and leading to a lot of turnovers.

Lawrence could miss a game or the rest of the season with what appears to be an ankle injury. He had trouble walking by himself and needed 2 people holding him up to reduce weight on his ankle.

I thought Beathard inured his left wrist by he continued to play. Crazy NFL rule where a team may choose to roster only 2 QB's.

Regardless it may give Rourke a game or more on the AR. He might even see some playing time.

Am a fan of the Chiefs but my oh my how the Ravens gifted the game with so many bad decisions.
Decisions costing yards via penalties, etc..
Meanwhile Mahomes and Kelce fired up some great connections and the Andy Reid magic continues.

Detroit's meltdown and 49's adjustments certainly helped make for great sporting t.v.

TayTay will probably spend more than that coming back from he stop in Japan to see the Superb Owl.

Her net worth is roughly 25 times Kelce's... she is literally "slumming it".
