Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on August 24, 2026, 05:54:59 PMHate seeing the Riders win just as much as I hate seeing the Bombers lose, but the refs. ruined that game by disqualifying 4-6 big Rider plays that took points off the board with penalty calls, while they let the Lions roll on untouched by infraction.

Same one-sided egregious calls in the Bomber/Elk game, Sheehan gets knocked on his butt after one punt and in the next series Vaval catches a punt within 2 yds of an Elk tackler, no penalty called in either case and no replays show or examine these infractions.
That no yards call is about the worst non-call I've seen this year. Pretty obvious.

Quote from: Pigskin on August 24, 2026, 07:39:56 PMI am not sure if Sheedan took a bit of a drive or not. But, the refs missed that no yards call, and the late hit on ZC8.

I don't usually think refs are biased, but for years it has seemed as though zach doesn't get the late hit penalty calls the same as other quarterbacks. Defences are given more leeway when Zach is the qb.

That one in that game was a good example.

Agreed it was brutal as was the late hit on Collaros. That's RTP everyday

Sure, we lose the highlight plays, but what if those highlight plays are only possible because SSK is cheating?  It's not like big plays were taken away for IC 40Y away from the ball.  Most of the ones I remember were legit point-of-attack calls.

If SSK doesn't want to lose plays, then don't cheat.  Simple.

I study what they do at length and they are max hold by all players all the time.  It's an art form to them.  And when a ref moves the needle a little bit calling them more strictly, SSK a) can't adjust and b) is no longer good.  Their "good" short game and screens and ST, etc, are ALL predicated on max hold by every player.

As I always say, it's the smart move if the CFL won't call it.  And this time they called it.

Now, since Johnston is "more show", and those flags definitely detracted from the show... will he tell McInnes to ease up.  OR has the league decided they've had enough of the SSK cheating?  We may have an answer by next SSK game, and its flag count.
Never go full Johnston!

Not anymore.  Command set new precedent.  They can no longer call that RTP for the rest of the year.  The standard MOS said they had of "avoid all unnecessary contact" is now "if it doesn't hurt him and it's minor then meh".

Similar to NHL approach.
