The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are reportedly filling one of the holes in their secondary with veteran cornerback Jonathan Moxey.

TSN's Farhan Lalji reported this morning the Blue Bombers have a deal with the 30-year old vet, who spent the last two years with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats following four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2019-23).

FYI, the CFL's negotiating window opened Sunday at 11 a.m. allowing teams and pending free agents around the league to negotiate, with any new agreements not to be officially announced until February 10th when the market opens.

Moxey is a veteran of 82 Canadian Football League games, 76 of them starts, and has eight career interceptions and has started games at corner, halfback and the dime spot during his days with Calgary and Hamilton. He started at field corner all of last year with the Ticats.

He would be joining a Blue Bombers secondary which has already locked up CFL All-Star Evan Holm this offseason, as well as halfback Deatrick Nichols and dime back Redha Kramdi.

As we pointed out in this piece, Winnipeg is heading into free agency next week with both Demerio Houston and Dexter Lawson, Jr. pending free agents, as well as Terrell Bonds, who finished the year on the injured list. With Jamal Parker, Jr. released in December and Marquise Bridges last summer, of the six different players who started at corner for the club in 2025, only Trey Vaval is officially under contract.

I am okay with this signing. Doesn't blow me away. I think Houston and Bonds are as good as Moxey. I wonder what we gave him. $$

Wow just wow!! Great signing here.

This is how you treat a fanbase who sells out every game.

Decent signing.  He was far better when in CGY.  Kind of fell off in HAM.  Used to worry when throwing against him in CGY, now, not so much.  Was he injured at all in HAM?

If he can regain CGY form then he'll for sure be better than Bonds or Parker level.  They also must think he'll work well in our wacky system.

Guess this spells the end of Houston.  We're making little upgrades at many positions, not necessarily massive ones (except Ceresna).  In every case you can argue the new guy is better.  That should lead to a decent bump up in results.

$ was probably only a bit under Nichols level.  So it's making me wonder where all this $SMS$ is coming from.  But I don't care -- go over SMS and give everyone half in MMM.
Never go full Johnston!
