Shoen should get some sort of base salary with a lot of bonuses. 100K with bonus that could get up to 200K.

Quote from: theaardvark on Today at 04:51:25 PMIf the player is on course for a full recovery, and was worth signing before the injury, starting them on the 6 game is not an issue for a team with cash.  Keeping them in the room while they rehab, bringing them up to speed and keeping current with what the team is doing is well worth simple dollars.  And if they don't rehab well, or fit in after the 6 game, releasing them has zero $SMS cost.

Its not a social club, the player is doing work, and if its the right player, can be contributing as another set of eyes on practice and even assisting the coaches on drills and sets.  So they will earn their keep.

If you are tight on cash, no, spending on a maybe is not an effective use of capital.

Once again you missed the problem with the veteran cut down date releasing a player. It's very difficult to determine medically WHEN a player will recover and be able to practice or play. We paid Schoen over $200K to play 5 games. He was deemed healthy to play when most of us knew it was a giant risk playing again so soon.

It's the same issue this year for him and Bonds as examples. You don't earn $200K on the sidelines as a player.
One game at a time.

We did not pay Schoen over 200k, fyi.

He had a 75k signing bonus, he would have made less than 20k of his base salary against the salary cap. and he had another 20 or so in housing bonuses.

Probably 115k against the cap and 165k in real money.
My wife is amazing!
