In this week's Winnipeg Sports Talk Bombers Report, Connor Hrabchak and I talk offensive ineptitude, deficiencies in the secondary, and if it's time to hit the panic button or if there's reason for optimism in Bomberland.

hit the button - hard and often..it's time, the trends are happening and they need to be reversed.

hit it now and make changes or face regrets in October and sadness in November.

You are posting as of late like you can see the future and there is only one possible outcome.  It's early and we don't know exactly how good or bad we are.  Need a few pieces yes but I believe we need to put a cover on the big red button for a bit yet.

I'm down to hoping for a repeat of the 2019 scenario now, unless VA and Harris are 6-gamed, the Bombers will have to play well just to grab 3rd place. Last season most teams in the West were pretty weak and the Bombers were able to recover from their slide, that is no longer the case.

I think one gets nicked that's about it.  Both are due to stay healthy.

We do know our secondary isn't good enough, and we need a safety
we also know our interior dline is weaker than most teams
Unless we get Schoen back our receiver group is an issue as well
So unless those are addressed it doesnt look good. The big tell will be labour day and banjo bowl games

Yup.  Total panic time for our DB corps.  We'll be fielding 2 WFC "rookie" CBs in the next game.  Plus the who-knows-what's-going-on-at-FS issue.

Parker likely back some time soonish, but Bonds not.

Unless DB Lawson lights things up (may be a lot to ask) we almost certainly need some airlift aid drops in the form of Bomber-ready DBs.  Read: Houston.  For the other side we may need to wait to trade with basement teams.

I have big hopes for Vaval's future as a DB, but that future ain't today.  It's a lot to ask that he be D.Alford in his first year.

Hopefully we bring in a few dbs with size , adding Lawson at 5ft 9 gives us the smallest group in the league.
I know size isn't the main factor in effectiveness but we are seeing more and more qbs throwing 50/50 balls deeper this year and more than a few using receivers height advantage

I think you're right techie, Dru brown is going to absolutely shred us!! Shred I say!!2 new corners and kelly at safety, it's going to be UGLY!

and don't forget that getting into a shoot-out isn't going to end well if the offence trends the way it has...we had another quarter with no or under 3 first downs - this has been happening for many games in a row and all we get are excuses and no improvement. Would love to see the quarter by quarter stats for our games as I think it would show our offence bogging down quite often.

It is going to take a special teams win and some incredible plays to win this one at home (or Ottawa shooting themselves in the foot - which is very possible with Dyce).

Ottawa's defence is also not the same thing as facing Calgary's.

And Dru Brown is not going to get the same number of offensive snaps/pass attempts when we can control the clock a little bit better.

Don't look at one outlier game like Ottawa just had and pretend you can copy/paste it onto a new opponent.
My wife is amazing!

I don't think many would dispute that OTT is on an uptrend though.  And we're definitely not.  On paper I may have to say they are stronger than us.
