Who wind the "Chase" for Claypool?

Betting its either Toronto or BC, tending to think BC because Grey Cup this year...

Can't believe no one drafted him...

I believe the Rider's have the exclusive negotiation right for him. Depending on $$$, he would be a big add for the Riders.

They put him on their Neg List?   Which means he can make a ridiculous ask or flat out tell them he doesn't want to play in SSK and have them either trade his rights or give them up...  I'm sure BC has someone on their neg list they can trade, or a 2nd round pick...

They can have him.

He crashed out of the NFL for what can essentially be described as a lack of effort. He exasperated Mike Tomlin, who is probably one of the best coaches in the last 30 years to get the most out of challenging players. He then was asked by the Bears to 'not come in to work anymore' on team that only had one legitimate receiver. Take a guy like that and put him in the CFL and you know what the results will be? He'll make his Bears 2023 season opener film look like Ray Lewis two weeks before training camp.

LOL :D

A questionable work ethic, a me-first attitude, and little to no respect for others... A trifecta that led to him basically cratering his career at the age of 25 on one of the world's biggest professional athletic stages.

He's the definition of a prima donna and he'd have to eat a truckload of humble pie before setting his sights on the CFL to continue to his career, IMO.

I loved the guy his rookie year.
But then he was traded let go, a let go, let go.
I played with guys like this before.  Super talent, special.  But football has a way of weeding these kind of guys out.

Too bad.

The only reason for him to play  CFL ball is if he wants to play ball, it won't be for the money...

"Through his earnings as an NFL wide receiver, he has accumulated tremendous riches. Spotrac shows that as of 2023, Claypool, who began his professional career in 2020, has earned $8,097,358 in the NFL."

No one in the CFL will sign him as there is still interest in the NFL as of right now.

Wouldn't the Roughriders be the only team that could even offer him a contract at this time?

Correct. For as long as he stays there (players can be added or removed at any time).

The point that I was trying to make is that Claypool will stay in the NFL as long as he can because of the pay differential and he needs more  time in that league to qualify for a pension.  I think the Riders placed him on their neg list is for trade bait (BC boy) for far in the future.  Seems like a lost cause to me but I have been wrong many times before. :'(

Which is a valid point, to be sure. I don't think we ever see Claypool in the CFL.

He's got 4 seasons with more than 3 games... he's got his pension AFAIK.  He has a lot more games in the NFL than Strevelski..

OK, thanks for the info.  I thought that it was five years for a full pension.
