They did? Just because we pass rush 4 more often does not mean we are traditional. For one thing, the fourth is often Jones, not a real DL. The wacky 2 FS sets are still there. The match coverage or max soft zone are still there.

It's still clearly a wacky younger d, just one that has a more traditional front 4 more often.

The fact you're praising it now is actually a bit shocking!
Never go full Johnston!

Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 02:31:41 PMLet's put this another way. We know which rookies have had significant playing time and several at a very high level of success.

Without thinking about who might get replaced: which part time rookie players ( PR or just limited games ) do you think may take a big step forward in 2027.

That could include some that never got into game action, that might play a role in year 2. That could be based on hype at signing or having watched a given player during practice.

I don't get to go to any practice sessions but I'm wondering whether Poncius might be in the battle on the OL.

Hazen is another I'm wondering whether he can do well in his 2nd year.

Texada would be a player that might be an important addition next year.

Obviously players that had limited game time or spent most time on the PR will see lots of new competition in TC.  As far as the rest, we'll have to see which players that didn't get into games will be re-signed once the season ends.  There are always some that return.

Predicting too far ahead always turns out to be a waste of time.  For example going into TC last year DB Warren Burrell was highly favoured for the open spot at CB, he eventually got beat out by Williams and Texada. Same for rangey receiver Jahmal Banks, cut before TC ended, outshone by Singer and Christian Fredericksen.  Worst was the year before when Eastern Washington record breaking QB Eric Barriere got beat out by Fabulous Terry Wilson. Recruitment is like a box of chocolates, don't bet money on new prospects!

Of course that is true. OTOH, it's what we discuss with every new signing during the off season. It's just all guesswork and evaluating what we did during the previous season.

No more excuses
