Quote from: Tecno on November 01, 2026, 06:19:15 PMConsider that Zach may have a bad enough injury that there's no way he'll play in the EDF (or GC if we get there).  Only Mafia knows how bad the ribs are.  Heck, could even be a fracture.  We don't know anything.

However, I like MOS keeping the world guessing rather than letting teams just prep against Dru.

Yep 50/50 whether Zach is healthy enough to play next weekend, I suspect it's the same injury again but whatever they want to say makes no difference, if he's out, he's out.

I predict he'll play, he was limited in 3rd day of practice which means it was a close call. In a week he'll be good to go. I'm team Zach is MTL.

Sway

Play them both

Dru in, Run Brady on 1st. Get 5 yards

Put Zach in on 2nd down  run Brady again

A plan like that, keep them guessing

Unless Zach is severely damaged i dont see how Oshea is gonna sit him again

Mafia obfuscates and deflects, but I haven't yet seen them lie.  If they say ribs, then it's ribs and not the "same" old neck/head.  Ribs would be a brand new type of injury for him, no?

No, I think he had something similar before. It wasn't from a body slam blow IIRC but being hit in the ribs on his right side after / during a pass attempt.  That's not a totally uncommon injury for QB's. Rib and / or shoulder injuries happen.

Look at Chad Kelly who is suggesting he had a shoulder separation issue after the strip fumble.

Anyway. Once again I'm torn whether Collaros should / could play. He won't be 100% at best. Brown is getting more comfortable as a starter.

Maybe..but after last game I'm not comfortable with him as the starter..ESPECIALLY vs a high powered MTL team.

The only thing Dru can do better is escape the pocket.  He cannot throw downfield better..we saw the evidence of that.   Zach is the better option if healthy.

That's a maybe as well. It's been mentioned that Collaros often takes too long to make a throw resulting in tight coverage or sacks.

We'll have to wait to see if Collaros can play. I'd think if he can then MOS will start him. Others have mentioned that his arm strength and accuracy have gotten worse. Add in the issues of protection from the OL and there are problems. How close to 100% will he be and/ or how limiting is his injury. Is the rib issue on his throwing side?

He should be motivated if he wants to return next year. In theory he should be the best option.

They used the Jumbo package with both Daniels and Elsbury with Brady helping out quite a lot against the Argos, that might buy Zach enough time to hit the deeper shots he likes with 4 superb receivers to choose from, but that only works if the best version of Zach shows up to play.  Too often we've seen the other version.

Tecno

Anyone else notice brown works best in the red zone? Or more like from maybe 40y and closer? Remember the OTT overtime shootout game? And this last game on the winning drive?

By limiting the depth you make it so him and Condell have no deep option. This plays to dru's strengths.

Dru is horrible when starting 85 yards away. Maybe he's like a race driver who is good when he can see the guy ahead but sucks when out on his own. Can't focus. Can't be patient. Who knows.

So how about put Zach in for the long drives until the 40, then put dru in to finish.

Zach's finishing hasn't been great. This is like a Jack sprat scenario. Use what each is good at.

The jumbo package is not new. Having Singer as a key player in the last several games will slow down the Als defence. Brady playing well is another positive which opens up the passing game.

If we see some of our receives as open as we did against the Als then yes we could have some big plays. Collaros is more accurate on those than Brown. However Brown has made some very good passes too.

No to 2 QB system. That hasn't worked for anybody I can remember for decades.

I think the 7 man Jumbo is fairly new to the Bombers and they're using it a lot more often with Daniels.  The Als also use that formation to provide Alexander with max protection.

I'd have to re-watch the game with that in mind. It's not like Brown had extra time to throw. He threw pics, got sacked and fumbled.

If / when we use  a 7 man jumbo that means only 3 receivers running routes. What package were we win when missed 3 big shots to open receivers? If might explain the 1st pick with Singer covered by 2 DB's.

blue_or_die

I don't think you ever gameplan around preparing a QB to start a playoff game with the intent of flip-flopping the moment they show they're not effective. This is why you don't see MOS or any competent coach do this. I think if you have that mindset, you're pretty much already showing defeat and not having confidence in your QB (however good or bad they might be at any given time) is a recipe for distaster.

I understand not wanting to give a player immunity from accountability but the time for that is passed - this is a do or die game and you've gotta make a decision and commit.

With that in mind, I don't know what the right answer is and tbh there's probably no right answer. I still think Zach can have a game good enough to win and make it through the whole 60 minutes. I also think Dru has the skills to ball despite his overthrows on Saturday which I think were the result of him playing overly excited and not cool enough.

But IMO you choose the one that gives you the best chance, show them you believe in them, give them the reps and preparation they need, and then just pray to whatever god you believe in.

If Zach is healthy, he is on the roster. If on the roster, he is starting. There is no scenario where Zach backs up.

Not knowing what the rib injury is there is now way to know how long it takes to heal. He will try it out at some point this week and see if he has full mobility. Bear in mind that Montreal knows his rib is tender and will be coming for it.
