I like that you are optimistic. That's been missing for a few games now. Yeah we did beat Montreal, at home.  This is for all the marbles in their ball yard. I feel like we CAN win but a lot has to go our way. They normally score a lot and don't make many mistakes.

The other final, BC is not out scoring EDM?  Weather could be an issue in this one. That part depends on fate I guess but would favor EDM a lot if cold and or snow. Curious to see the crowd size here. Maybe Montreal ends up being the only playoff sell out?

Quote from: Pigskin on November 01, 2026, 03:22:00 AMBrown had a tough day with the long ball.

The good news is that on a few of the long balls the reciever was very open.  Brown was overthrowing them and also over the wrong shoulder on a couple.

But we now have at least 3 deep threats with White, Singer, Demski and you could say 4 with Pokey too.  We haven't been this deep in quality deep threats in ages.  Just need to hit them.  And I have faith Zach will hit a couple against the Als.

I agree with your comments - this is the first time in  long time that we have had a number of deep threats. Now if our QB can just hit them and if our OL can give the QB time to do so!

Quote from: Pigskin on November 01, 2026, 01:38:39 PMMontreal should be pretty healthy. However, they haven't played a meaningful game in awhile. Would feel better about this game if it was played in Winnipeg, and ZC8 was 100%.

I mentioned this in the TO thready, but I am not sure about Alexander's hammy  It has been an issue for months.  I hope our DL can get to him early and often and throw him off his game.  I believe we have a good chance either way, but a better chance if we do.

Philpot's shoulder was also an issue in week 21.  I wonder if he is 100% to go now. I'm sure that he will, but if he has limited motion it could be in our favor.

Alexander injuring himself is about the only chance the Bombers have of pulling off an upset, he'll be so high wired he'll attempt to do all sorts of foolish things that could put his body in jeopardy.  He needs a QB coach that calms him down and does not let his emotions spiral out of control, it's too easy to get under his skin and push his buttons.

Montreal is for sure the favourite in this one, but so were we playing Arbuckle and the Argos in the GC and how did that turnout??

We're the underdog, no question, have nothing to lose. I think if we can get a defensive turnover leading to points or a TD and Vaval has a great game returning, we can beat these guys. And we've all seen how Alexander carries on like a big baby yelling at the refs when things are going his way, I m thinking we get up on them and Alexander will have a melt down like Vernon Adams!!! Can't wait.

Quote from: Blue In BC on November 01, 2026, 01:00:27 PMYou can make up a theory about anything. It's like trying to prove a point with statistics. This is just another one that I disagree about.

Ya, it's called a hypothesis.  Like... the scientific method?  I came up with this hypothesis ages ago and most seasons seem to prove it true.  The others don't prove it wrong.

Thus the hypothesis stood up against the experiments and data.  And as per science, doesn't mean I'm right.  But it also means I might be right.  Until it's disproven.

Us blowing MTL out of the water (like we did when we faced them early in the season) would go a long way toward solidifying my theory.

Does anyone know the practice schedule for this week?

Nope. A team that is a problem one year is in the basement next year. Free agency and injuries change the situation each year.

I'm not sure if anyone predicted the Elks finishing 1st or the TiCats losing BLM and out of the playoffs.

But that's simply not true. Most times a team builds and improves over 2 to 3 seasons to get to deep playoffs or cups.

Just recently, ssk did it. Mtl did it. Dinwiddie tor did it. Bc did it.

5 to 8 years ago we did it and ssk did it.

Heck even ham would be included had bo not been injured.

Yes, edm is a little faster than normal, but in most other cases in a decade you can watch a team rise over 2 to 3 seasons. Sometimes 2. almost never 1. Edm was actually building a good team, it just looked bad when they started Ford for so long.

The fall can also be slow and gradual. See: Wpg.

I'm not disagreeing that a team works to re-build. I dispute that they target a specific team to improve against.

the thing is this team has show flashes of brilliance. We've lost games and kept games close that we've won thru mistakes, some bad luck  and lack of half time adjustments.
the game against Toronto was a prime example
Singer and White both were wide open for  touchdown throws
Ceresna hits Kelly on a clean rush and ref tosses a flag to let the drive continue
Brown throws interception in fg range
Ungerer gets a bounce off Moxey that falls into his hands again keeping a drive going
Vaval with a great return gets called back on a flag
Missed fg attempt
Put it together for one game and we certainly have a chance for the upset
(a caveat.. we havent been able to stop Scott as hes outmuscled our defense for 8 yds  a pop something we have to fix)

While I agree with your comments and like it said "Any Given Sunday" there always is a chance for an upset to take place. However the one comment "Put it together for one game" is something we have not really done this year. Bits and pieces have been excellent but putting it all together for 4 quarters seems to have escaped ups so far.

That was an excellent game for Brown to step up under pressure and demonstrate he had the makings of a starting QB and he blew it time after time with inaccurate passes. He seems to be smart enough for the role but if he wants to be considered the future leader of the offence he somehow has to become mentally more consistent in his production during the off-season.  Maybe he should consider shock therapy.

If he fails to solve that puzzle he could be relegated to career backup and bounce around the CFL for the next 5 years.
