Quote from: BBRT on Today at 02:46:35 PMI have to ask given I do not gamble! What does -150 to -225 mean? Does it mean that Toronto is favored and to win your bet the Argos have to win by a certain amount of points?? Sorry never placed a bet so not sure how these numbers work.

In any event I will watch the game but am not expecting the Bombers to win.

Just a straight up win for the moneyline. -225 means you need to bet $225 to win $100. If it was +225 a bet of $100 would win $225.

So and forgive me for asking does this change mean that the Argos are now favored to win more so that the previously? I have never placed a sports bet so just curious.

Looks like they raised the Argos odds after Dru was named the starter.

So, does the Million Dollar Man, having secured his future, have anything to play for?

I think giving him the cash now takes the fire out of him fighting for that next contract and getting teams to bid for his services.

Don't blame him for taking the ridiculous offer, far more than anyone else would bid.

Need to get him off his game early, get in his face, get some sacks / knock downs / ints, make him hesitate a split second.

Much as there are a lot of players that can make a difference this game, I think Kelly is the key.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

The "Line" I quoted is called the Money Line meaning no points are given. The -225 means that if you bet $225.00 on Toronto to win and they did, you would win $100.00. Alternatively the Winnipeg "Money Line is currently at +185 meaning that a $100.00 bet on Winnipeg to win would win you $185.00.

I'm conflicted as my heart is with Winnipeg but my money is on Toronto.

Toronto Argonauts short top special teams ace for East Semi-Final
October 30, 2026

The Toronto Argonauts appear to be a picture of health ahead of their East Semi-Final matchup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

As expected, starting quarterback Chad Kelly will celebrate his new $5.5 million payday in style and make his return to the lineup after missing the regular-season finale with a knee injury. The 32-year-old has not been limited in practice this week and is reportedly at full strength.

While Canadian rookie Isaiah Smith is listed as the starter in the backfield, Cameron Porter will also be back in the fold and is expected to see significant reps. The Northwestern product appeared in just one game for the Argos, carrying the ball seven times for 31 yards and a touchdown. Fullback Jack Cassar will also be available this week.

The biggest changes will come on defence and special teams. Derek Slywka, the team's top special teamer with 19 tackles in that phase, will sit out with a shoulder injury suffered last week. The second-year man had also been a frequent rotational contributor on defence, making 37 defensive tackles, a sack, and two forced fumbles. The recently acquired Vi Jones will provide depth and insurance.

Dathan Hickey will get the start at field cornerback after suiting up in four previous contests, making five total tackles and a pass breakup. Louis-Philippe Gauthier is listed as a backup and Nic Toomer has been returned to the practice roster.

Receiver Dymere Miller and offensive lineman Brandon Kemp will begin the postseason on the reserve roster. In addition to Slywka, receivers Nolan Ulm and Jake Herslow, as well as defensive lineman Ali Fayad are on the one-game injured list.

The Toronto Argonauts (9-9) will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-9) for the East Semi-Final at BMO Field on Saturday, October 31, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET. The teams met twice during the regular season and split the meetings 1-1.

The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and TSN 1050 in Toronto.

That doesn't make much sense, Kelly is a competitive player, the Bombers are going to have a hard time constraining his enthusiasm for  playing football tomorrow.

Kelly along with his agent negotiated their huge salary bump and the Argos agreed with obvious disregard to their balance sheet. What burns me is they're likely using revenue sharing payments from the Bombers and Riders to dangerously distort the QB market at a time when a few teams look to be in financial peril.

Not sure how revenue sharing works. Does this imply that revenues from the Bombers and Riders are shared throughout the league. Is there any site that explains how this works? I was wondering how the Argos could afford paying Kelly what they will be paying him given their low attendance etc. Guess the league as a whole is paying the bill!

Pete

have they disclosed  how much of the infamous marketing money makes up the cap?
In terms of affordability because of the cap it just means that they find savings elsewhere.
While having a elite qb is great, it will impact who they can bring in around him.

No explanations are offered when it comes to financial arrangements, none of our business.  Empty stadiums across the league and 7 out of 9 teams losing money equates to the salary cap going up, can't quite figure how that one works. I am beginning to suspect Russian gambling consortium and money laundering are involved and I ain't even joking.

Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 02:19:32 PMWhen is Demski ever not listed as a GTD? I suspect he'll play but he's not been 100% for most of the year. The final roster shuffle has been completed.

I don't understand the movement process where Peterson is moved from PR to AR and finally to IR. Same issue with Dixon moved around and finally ending up on reserve. There must be a cleaner way to make a one step transaction.

Novak was moved from the AR to PR and back to AR.  Hansen was moved to PR and back to AR.

It's interesting that Ayers could have been activated but we choose to retain Jenkins on the roster. That's not a complaint but a question about how are they making these decisions.

Moxey back as a starter at CB.

I suspect all the shuffling has to do with contract status and following league rules, it's not just a matter of moving player's name from one list to another, it kicks in a different contract status to do so.

Back in the day they had to put a player on waivers before transferring between the AR and the PR so any other interested team could claim them in that transition period. Gladly that feature has been eliminated, but I'm sure the transfer of status still makes a difference to the players weekly pay cheque.

Last game Lawson stood on the sideline all game but did not play, I did notice Jenkins playing a lot more DT in that case and he seemed to be more effective in that role than he has been as a pass rusher. He's a high energy guy so he might be able to stick if he can adjust his game in that direction.

How does Toronto afford to pay Chad Kelly this big salary with the attendance for the games in Toronto last couple of years?  No wonder this league is not going survive with paying one player this amount of money.
